I'd hate to lose DJ
but getting a 3rd rounder for him would soften the blow. I really like the Janoris Jenkins pick and the Vontaze Burfict pick in the 2nd round but I would change the Jarius Wright pick to a DT like Kheeston Randall because I don’t think Derek Wolfe is going to fall all the way to the 5th round.
Nice work

Look up Jason Jones. If we land him and re-sign Brodrick Bunkley, there will be no need to draft a DT except Derek Wolfe who is projected to go in the 5th or 6th round and the first 5th round spot we have is early, so it is probably possible to draft him.

If we sign Grubbs, Tolbert, Branch, and Jones, I will be thrilled. The only thing I would change is to keep DJ.

We will have close to $50M in free cap space
We were the second cheapest team in the league last year and apparently we get to role over all that cap room to the 2012 season. I think we should keep DJ if we can.

I'm pretty sure we're going to have a ton of money to spend
From today: http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2012/02/12/remaining-2011-cap-space-by-team/
Broncos remaining cap room from 2011: $27.88 million
All of that cap space can be carried over to 2012 if the teams wants to. Hopefully Bowlen decides to start spending again.

i think...
it’s closer to…21-22 million… i read somewhere yesterday…
after resigning Bunkley..to about $4-5 million… leaves us about 19 million as he was on about 1.9mil this year i think…shrewd spending on 4-5 players and the horizon looks a lot better…
Jason Jones DT@4mil or so…
Tyvon Branch SS@5mil or so…
Chris Myers C@4mil… saves us on taking Konz in the draft if we go that way
David Garrard QB@1mil or so… don’t laugh to loud… Quality QB..that played 4 a crap team…
Evan Mathis OG@2mil or so…. Great pick-up… Kuper injury??
Solidifies our DT position…and OL… and a quality back-up QB…
and lets us spend our Draft picks more wisely….CB..RB..LB..WR

$21-22M in cap space for 2012
According to the new CBA teams can roll over their cap space from 2011 into their cap space for 2012. That means we’ve got about $50M in available cap space for 2012 if Bowlen and EFX decide to use it.

I have yet to figure out all the hate for DJ

The grass is always greener...
…but, more so, playing musical chairs position wise has made it difficult to live up to the hope he created as a rookie. Nobody cares that beyond Bailey, he ha mostly been surrounded by crap his whole career, with nobody upfront to keep him clean. Ray Zlewis would be diss appointing behind Dewayne Roberton, E. Ekuban, etc.
What I find amazing is that every d-cordinator the broncos have brought in, have not had one problem with DJ
You think if he was the “problem” they would have wanted him gone. Three different HC’s and 7 different DC’s, yet not coach said something bad. Whoever made up this fairly tale did a good job.

Its not hate. It's economics. He gets about 9mil a year. Making him 2nd or 3rd highest paid player on the DEF.
His production however, is not that good. Woodyard had more tackles than DJ as a BACKUP! I like DJ, but he needs to “show me the production!”
Glad you aren't our GM.

lol why is that? Because we'll draft all of these guys or becaue EFX will do even worse?

I didn’t really like the draft at all. I did like some of the FA signings though, such as Branch, Tolbert, Connor, and Jones. Not so sure Jones or Grubbs reach the open market though. Even so, I wouldn’t like to spend that much money on him when we can upgrade cheaper through the draft, or give Walton and Beadles more continuity and time to develop. That money can go to another position; maybe Brandon Carr or even Landry if we feel he’s worth it.
If our first two picks turn out to be Jenkins and Burfict I would cry!!
Not sure if they’d be tears of joy…. or tears of sorrow, however…..
I love both players, no doubt… I’m just not 100% comfortable with what’s going on upstairs.
Having said that… we need a CB and an MLB. If Kirkpartick doesn’t slide (charges got dropped cause he was wrongfully arrested) I’d love Jenkins. And I would take Burfict in a heartbeat if he was available in round 2
kirkpatrick is not coming to denver. john fox and brian xanders dont like players with a history of messing with the law in any circumstances. he still got accused.
and yet you chose Jenkins? Who has been arrested 3 times? Oh but you are the GM not Xanders. I see.

Did you even read the Kirkpatrick situation?
Based on your response, I’d guess no.

Bet
Burfict would go much earlier than that and so would Pead
oh i guess not pead
depending on which 3rd round pick you get for dj williams
I'll take that bet. Burfict will slide to at least the 3rd.

Jarius Wright
I like the mock other than the DJ scenario. I also think that if Joe Adams is still there in the 3rd we should take him over Jarius Wright. 4 year career at Arkansas amassing 164 receptions, 2,410 yards, and 17 touchdowns. As a punt return man, between his junior and senior seasons, Joe Adams had 62 returns for 570 yards and 5 TDs. Height: 5 ft. 11 in. / Weight: 190 lbs. / High 40 yard dash time: 4.49 seconds / Low 40 yard dash time: 4.38
Sounds like Royals replacement to me.. ;)

Why give DJ away????
He is still a good OLB, a great team leader and can play any of the LB positions????

how much trouble can he get in with champ on one side and tebow on the other?

this isn’t a bad mock at all… BUT…. I gotta be honest here. No how, no way does EFX sign that many free agents. I mean, they might sign that many (we are going to have more roster turnover this year than last year for sure), but not that many high to mid profile ones.
Grubbs, Tolbert and Branch will cost a small fortune…. at least what EFX considers a fortune. I do realize that this will only be EFX’s second offseason period, and we don’t really know all of their tendencies yet, but I can pretty much assure you they won’t sign that many big names.
I could see one guy out of the three I mentioned, and then some value signings.
I love your draft. If it were me, I wouldn’t take a CB with our 1st, but Kirkpatrick would be extreme value at 25. He was a top 10 pick at one time, and he wasn’t guilty of owning the weed… it was his buddy. I absolutely adore Danny Trevathan, and I believe he could be our next starting MLB or SS. The dude is athletic as heck, and is a bigtime, violent hitter. I’d be thrilled if it ended up like this.
"If you went to the Fair with this guy and you played that game where you have to throw the ball through the hole..... he may never get it through the hole, but he's still gonna be walking away with all the stuffed animals!" Prime's commentary on our very own Tim Tebow!!!
