My heart goes out to him and his family as well.
The Definition of an optimist: A Buffalo Bills fan waiting at Buffalo Niagara International Airport for the Bills to return from winning the Super Bowl.
I found this interesting
Per my fav Mike Klis: "The projected salary for a franchised kicker this year is less than $2.6 million — down 19 percent from $3.176 million in 2011.
Make no mistake: This will be the off-season when many players come to realize the owners won last year’s labor battle."
That second part was the money shot. The players did lose the CBA battle with the NFL. They lost it badly. You can thank the owners PR machine for that since they convinced a number of fans that players are greedy and they play a child’s game (not something that is a decidedly dangerous line of work). Not without blame, so many of the players waste their money on convertible Bentley with no insurance and designer plates so I’m sure they were desperate for those paychecks. Leverage comes in many forms.
MHR and McJedi taught us that players are just “the player” and we shouldn’t get invested in them because the Broncos are not one man or a collection of men.
I suppose the reduced salaries are a good for Denver in 2012 since we are way under the cap and the price tag is coming down on UFAs. Bowlen should be aggressive in UFA and land new legit starters. I’d like to see us add a starting level MLB (Loftin from Atlanta – he’d be expensive), starting level OG (to replace Beadles) and starting level WR (Louis Murphy from Oakland – he’d be cheap) to push Decker and D Thomas. I’d draft a DT and RB early to augment the roster in those two areas.
Then again, Bowlen may be more bottom line conscious and try to see 2012 be as profitable as possible. With that in mind, we’ll probably resign a bunch of our guys and try to recreate the 2011 magic again. Perhaps our big spend in 2012 was Del Rio, which I think was a wise move and money well spent.

That innocence came with a price
Those Heroes were not getting paid for many years, for a few years they have been over paid, now the owners got some balance back. Add to that the new packages designed to help older and impaired players along with new rules for player safety. I think it was a win/win.

Those heroes were making more than the average joe for quite some time
plus they knew the risks they were taking – it’s common sense. If you run into a brick wall wearing only a piece of cloth on your head, it’s probably not healthy for you.
I was told from a young age about the possibilities football could do to me, I played anyways. So was my dad back in the late 60’s. I think former players who sew are just broke and looking for someone with deep pockets, they were aware of the risks.
It’s like sewing your insurance company for getting into a motorcycle accident. It’s retarded.

Murphy is a Gator and I know he’d mesh well with Tebow. I also like that he plays well vs AFC West opponents.
Since I think he’d come cheap and motivated (to hurt Oakland), I think he is worth the risk.
Lofton would be a dream signing for me. I doubt Atlanta lets him get away, but I don’t know their salary cap situation. Sadly, I don’t follow the NFL as closely as I used too.

Atlanta' Free Agents
John Abraham (2011:$8M), Curtis Lofton (2011:$$602K),Safety Thomas DeCoud (2011:$550K), Center Todd McClure (2011:$1.7M),RB Jason Snelling (2011:$1.91M), KR/PR/WR Eric Weems (2011:$1.2M) and LS Joe Zelenka (2011:$865K).
I don’t know if they can fit all of them or not, but I thought I would add this. These players were all starters last year.

Ouch for Atlanta
Decoud is another guy I’d be interested in.
Atlanta has several expensive guys they’ll want to keep. Those rookie deals are a lot easier to swallow than 2nd contracts. Lesson here is that you don’t trade away a ton of draft picks for one guy. You’ll be sad when those 3rd rounders are the best bang for the buck when they play out the rookie deal.
Tim Tebow is Denver's 2012 starting QB. I'm not even kind of sorry that offends some of you (including you Elway).
Yes, McGeorge
DeCoud is what I call, when I visit the Falcoholic, a ballFalcon, rather than a ballhawk, OK, that was a lame joke, but the point is valid. He just has a nose for the ball. Th Falcons will probably regret giving up a king’s ransom for Julio Jones. I mean he has great potential, but he wasn’t nearly explosive enough for what they paid. The Falcons scored 2 points in the playoffs, the Giants scored 2 points within the first six minutes of the Super Bowl…

Atlanta FA
I believe CB Grimes is a free agent also….Cant remember the article I was reading but the gist of it was that the Falcons didn’t know if they could keep both or whether they would franchise one and sign the other but from what I got from the article was that they would try and sign Grimes first since corner is a harder position to fill

That's why I think the hysteria with the possibility of Tebow getting replaced is crazy (besides football reasons)
Then again, Bowlen may be more bottom line conscious and try to see 2012 be as profitable as possible.
Bowlen’s not gonna get maximum dollar with Ryan Tannenhill under center or Matt Flynn.
This is something I should tell myself when Elway runs his mouth to Michael Silver.
Bowlen’s $$$ probably still calls the shots. Not Elway’s twitter account and his unnamed quotes.
I bet the concessions money and box seat revenue looks pretty damn good the morning after a Tebow start. Orton knows what I’m talking about.

I guess it stirs the pot and gets clicks to his articles. He is really going against the grain too, almost everyone says DE or DT with one TE and McShay with his QB. Tebow may not be the end-all that we all crave, but it just seems silly to think that with a D minded coach and bringing in Del Rio that we take another unproven QB with our first pick…
