Delocated needs to be located somewhere else.
Anybody else repulsed by the 90% naked man that keeps popping up in the ad slots? I think Milehighreport needs to be more choosy about the ads they plug. I don't mind seeing Drew Brees sleeping with Nyquil or whatever else.... But a mostly naked, pasty white, flabby, junk dangling, burglar man is not what I want taking up screen space while I am trying to sneak in Broncos news during my work day. Furthermore, I am not interested in watching any show, on adult swim or elsewhere, that involves almost nude robbers. Thanks for trying.

I've seen numerous women on this site less clothed than him without a single complaint
And Adult Swim is awesome. Delocated isn’t the best show on the network, but it is watchable. And it has nothing to do with a naked robber. It’s a fake reality show about a guy in the witness protection program (hence the ski mask).

I wonder why?
I was trying to figure out where to complain about the same thing and saw this post. As for your statement about sexual equality, what do you think is the demographic profile of this audience? I don’t care if you like the show, it conjures up an image of the Gimp in Pulp Fiction, and though I loved that movie, I can do without this constant reminder popping onto my screen.
Like I've said elsewhere in this post
If you’re not going to complain when there are girls in just as skimpy of outfits, you have no right to complain about this. You can’t have these things both ways, so unless you want strict bans on what images of women can be posted, I’d suggest just ignoring the ads for a few more hours.

That statement manages to be both pompous and stupid
Seriously where do you get off telling other people what they have to do to be consistent? Here’s my consistency I consistently don’t like scantily clad chubby middle aged men.
Along with that why in the world should I try to be consistent in the things that I like. Does it make someone more moral and ethical somehow? Sometimes I adult swim sometimes I don’t. Sometimes I think their ads are good sometimes they’re like this. I’m free to like what I want to and not like what I don’t. If you can’t handle that then grow up, and stop trying to dictate to other people how they should complain.
Funny, I find your comment to be both pompous and stupid
First of all, the guy isn’t that chubby, but that’s really not my point.
No where have I said that anyone has to like that ad. If you hate it, that’s perfectly fine with me. But this post was intended to remove that ad, and that censorship is where I start to have problems. When something gets censored, than everything equal to it has to be taken down as well. So if you have no problem with the morality police coming in here and removing every single picture that shows too much skin, then by all means do whatever you can to prohibit Delocated from advertising here. But if you believe in freedom of speech in the very least, then just ignore the ad and go on with your day.

Sorry man – that just really isn’t true.
This discussion comes up in discussion boards a lot… main counterpoints are, this is not the government, first amendment does not apply, and what is offensive can pretty much be determined by the community and editors of a site. You’re welcome to register your disagreement as you have, of course, but if the rest of the community comes down in favor of removing a particular ad, and if the editors choose to listen and remove it, while leaving up pictures of bikini women or shaved dogs or trees that look like turds or whatever, then there is nothing actually inconsistent about that, because the model you’d seek to apply doesn’t actually have to be applied.

You're right about the first amendment not applying
But that still doesn’t mean there’s not an issue with this affecting Adult Swim’s freedom of speech (even if there’s no legal basis to force SB Nation to accept their ad). And my point is that once the editors bow down to one group and pull and ad, it sets a precedent for every other group that wants an ad pulled. If you’re fine with things being censored, that’s all good and fine for you. I’m going to fight it every instance I see it in though and we’re just going to have to agree to disagree on the morality of censorship.

censorship?
come on, man. that’s way too far. it’s not censorship. if your S&M fat guy ad gets removed from here democratically or because it’s not helping Cartoon Network’s bottom line, that’s strictly and ONLY a business decision—y’know, money. no way, no how you should construe that as censorship. if it’s not here anymore, you can go find the fat dude ad on another site and stare at it and smile all day long if you want. it would just mean it’s not here. sorry, but that’s a pet peeve. it’s a lot like the work ‘racist’. it’s a strong term and should be used only when it truly applies.
"We don’t get no hat or nothing?..." —C. Harris
Censorship = Suppressing that which is unacceptable to some
Getting rid of an ad solely because some people don’t like it would be censorship by the very definition. If you want to let Adult Swim know how much a majority of the people here hate their ad and let them make a business decision about whether it’s worth the money, than that’s fine. But when they offer money like any other company, their ad should run like any others.
And any type of censorship, no matter how big or small, is a huge pet peeve on my part. So whenever and wherever it applies, I am going to call it like I see it.

definition’s not complete. it’s key who is doing the suppressing. this isn’t a government issue or an overriding ruling body making a decision to cover something up. this is economics and democracy. people voiced their anger, disappointment, disgust and that’s it. seems like the ad more than ran its course to me, but even if it was pulled early it had nothing to do with government trying to bury the existence of something socially important forever. in fact, if it turns out that obama or congress was behind the pulling of the ad, i’ll be the first in line to go off about it.
call it that if you want, but i wouldn’t label a person who protested pornography on the disney channel a ‘censor’—just someone voicing strong displeasure. same thing happened here.

Censorship doesn't have to be done by a government
Wouldn’t you call Comedy Central editing out the muslim parts of South Park censorship?
And your example of Disney is ridiculous. Pornography would be considered obscene and therefore illegal to run in that format. Look how much trouble was caused when a boob slipped at a Super Bowl half time show. There is nothing legally obscene about the ad and therefore it should be treated as any other, period.

sports nation was not forced to pull any ad. and no, the comedy central example is not censorship! they can do whatever the hell they want with their programming because they’re a private business and it’s THEIR MONEY. government is NOT in the same category. you and i might not like comedy central editing things out but they’re footing the bill, as are their advertisers, so they get to tell south park to put all the characters in turtleneck sweaters and dickies overalls if they want to. south park, in turn, can take their product elsewhere where it’s more welcome. or, they can sit back like they always do, let their viewers speak for them, and have the advertiser and network end up changing their mind or showing the content online and conveniently making even more money.

Ok, I think I know where we're not seeing eye to eye then.
Censorship can be done by anyone, not just the government. Here’s the definition of censor. As you can see, it is done by any person supervising the morality or manners of others. It’s not a government thing, it’s not a legal thing, it’s simply suppressing material because someone doesn’t like it. This is the way I’ve been using the term and it’s something I’m against in nearly every case. If your morality or manners cause you to dislike something, than avoid it and let those who aren’t as prude enjoy it. As far as the legal portion of your argument, you’re absolutely correct: SB Nation would have the full right to deny or remove that ad if they so wished, just as Comedy Central had the full legal right to edit South Park the way they did. I think both situations are horrendous and will always oppose anything that even resembles them. If you think it’s ok to have the moral police going around and removing content, than that is your opinion. All I’ve been trying to do in this fanshot is point out to people that demanding that this ad be taken down is the same as demanding that censors come in and take down everything that is equivalent to it. Am I being dramatic? Perhaps, but that is the way I see any and all forms of censorship.

i just don’t think it’s the same though, royal. me demanding that a censor or gov step in is different than me as a consumer or club member or whatever just going off. anyway, we’re going around on this and we should probably pay more attention to the nuggets lakers game that’s about to start.
oh, one side note though: i think a lot of the issue with that ad wasn’t so much the concept (although it was that too, for sure) but the shear size and dominance of it. it just took over the whole freaking site and was annoying. i said the same thing when the stupid caveman took over and when KY jelly took over. my guess is if the ad would’ve been like a 3″×3″ spot somewhere on the side, it would’ve just gotten a few comments and not caused the big feather ruffling that came about. anyway, go nuggs.
"We don’t get no hat or nothing?..." —C. Harris
I can totally agree with you on this
Government intervention is always infinitely worse than a private company making the decision. If I could figure out a way to distinguish the two, I would happily do so. And I also agree with most of these ads being annoying, but, in the end, it’s a small price to pay for the great content of this site. Go Nuggets and go Broncos!

censorship
really? The posters on a football blog are guilty of censorship for not wanting to look at an offensive ad? But there are things that are not acceptable for advertising. We as the eyeballs looking at this site should have a say in what we have to look at. We may not pay for this but someone is making money off our views. I have seen complaints about the content of several ads here and I have posted that MHR has no control. I have no delusions that they can make much impact on their own but if several sites were to complain to SBN that their viewers were unhappy I think it would get some attention.
Here’s the thing. Don’t you think the advertiser wants to know if he is hitting his target audience? Think of the number of ads that rotate through here and the lack of commentary on them. For one ad to get this much attention is noteworthy. It has been commented on in several areas now. It is not censorship to say “your ad sucks”!

How would we get a strict ban on women?
I am willing to bet that 90+% of the audience for this blog is men. You don’t see naked ugly dudes with ski masks on Maxim’s site, why would it be any different here?
Read my other posts for that answer
And Delocated is a show that’s directed at men, so the advertising is in the right place. And you really think Maxim would turn down their money if they wanted their ad to appear on their site?

That is so not the point
Me thinks you doth protest too much. Are you lobbying for more out-of-shape masked Gimp advertising on the MHR, or perhaps you work for it advertiser, or perhaps it is you or your boyfriend in the picture? Seriously, not wanting this advertising has nothing to do with impeding civil liberties like freedom of speech, but is purely a matter of demographic preference. You keep getting worked up about equal time for semi-naked guys and girls, but the reality is that media can be tailored to an audience without the need to cry censorship. Clearly, many people obviously think this ad is poor choice for this audience, regardless of whether the show is appropriate to the demographic. I am sick of seeing this ad and so are many other posters.
You're the one missing the point.
I’m not saying it’s a good ad (although I personally find it funny) or that people have to like it. I’m not saying that I want to see more ads like it or an equal amount of weird ads to even it out. My comments are purely opposed to those who want it censored. Getting an ad removed simply because you don’t like it is a dangerous step onto a slippery slope. Lets say this post was successful and SB Nation returned the money to Adult Swim and refused to run their ad anymore. Then, next week, there was an ad going up with some cheerleaders in it that you simply loved. The minute someone objects to that being in poor taste it would have to come down because of the precedent set by the Adult Swim decision. My main point that I’ve been trying to make time and again only to have it be ignored continuously is that I don’t care who likes this ad or who hates it. I don’t care who makes fun of it or who laughs with it. I don’t care who turns in to Adult Swim to watch it or who boycotts Adult Swim for life because of it. My only care in the world is to avoid having people try to get it removed BECAUSE they don’t like it. Every ad created in the world will have people who hate it, but that’s not a good reason to have it censored. That very act, no matter what the reason behind it is, is absolutely an attack on freedom of speech. So go ahead and rip on the ad all you want. Get all your friends to avoid watching the show in protest. But if you want to get the ad removed, like this fanshot was created to do, you’re going have to fight me tooth and nail every step of the way.

Getting an ad removed simply because you don’t like it is a dangerous step onto a slippery slope.
I’d disagree here too… a slippery slope to what? Fascism, the re-emergence of Mussolini… on the pages of MHR? :-)
There’s not really any reason to follow precedent, either. Not on a community website where there are editors. The precedent isn’t that every act ever taken must be illustrations of principles that will always be consistently followed. The precedent is that the site has editors that make choices, and that the site expresses the will of the editors. Of course a site’s history – and a community’s history – is going to contradict itself over time. That’s unavoidable. The question is more if people generally feel like they are being treated fairly – and even if they’re not, they’re free to go elsewhere, or try and form a community of their own, etc.
BTW, I’m in favor of removing the dislocated wraparound ad, but my own standards are because it was screwing up my Safari browser. Some sort of css bug was making the entire middle panel (where the content is) invisible.
There absolutely would be a precedent.
Let’s say the ad did get pulled. The next one that pissed off a few people would be fast tracked toward censorship. There would be a set strategy to take it down and people screaming that if they took that one down they HAVE to take the new one down. If people are fine getting to the point that content is removed every time someone bitches, that’s their opinion. However if you’d be upset to see ads censored whenever someone throws a hissy, than just ignore the ones you don’t like. That’s my only point in this whole thread. (And if it’s the ad doing that to your browser it needs fixed, not removed).

Your putting values
and legalities on SBN. They don’t have to choose to display an ad based on fairness or law. They can choose to display whatever ad they want and reject whatever ad they want. There is no issue of fairness. If showing ugly fat men makes them money they will show it. We are saying we don’t want to see it and that is/should be a threat to their money.

I’ve went over this time and again. It has nothing to do with legality or saying they can’t do it. All I’m saying is that denying an ad because some people don’t like it is censoring that ad. It’s the basic definition of the word and I’m using it correctly. I’m always against censorship in any form and therefore asking to have this or any other ad removed is something I’m always going to stand against.

Let's not make this a gender equality thing.
The advertisers should understand their target audience here. A bunch of dudes, with a few chicks, that are here to read about football. Guys who love football love cheerleaders. Matter of fact is, if that dude was a chick in as much clothing, it would be a more effective ad. The market that wants to see naked pasty white middle aged flabby guys on their websites is very very small. I challenge you to find one dude that goes out of his way to investigate this show because of the aforementioned creepy looking burglar man. This is not an indictment of adult swim or even the show, as I have never seen it, but it is an indictment of the ad itself. They swung and they missed in my opinion. I do not enjoy seeing that ad up on the site. Period. I was just looking for some support. Maybe send a message.
My computer beat me at checkers, but I sure beat it at kickboxing.
You can't say it's not a gender equality thing and then say you'd be fine if it was a chick
The ad does what it’s supposed to do, it gets you to notice it. And the show is for people who like things that are a bit more outrageous. Plus, the ad is effective for people like me who used to watch adult swim every night but don’t have the time anymore. In fact, I’ll probably watch it now and I would have had no idea that a new season was starting. The show and this ad are my kind of humor. It’s fine if you don’t find it funny or don’t want to watch the show. But if you’d be ok with a girl wearing this amount of clothing and you’re not ok with a guy doing it, then you are being sexist.

This ad is no worse than Borat
Adult Swim is funny. Grant it, not for everyone, but it is funny. I haven’t been able to catch Delocated, but from the commercials I’ve seen this is pretty much the point of the show… make fun of reality TV.
Also, you would be money, chalk and marbles ahead to take this up with SB Nation. MHR has probably very little to do with the advertising on this site. This was probably a campaign that was presented to SB Nation with a certain target audience and gender. Not only that but with a certain amount of impressions to met and ability to place this sort of ad.
I’m guessing the ad will be gone tomorrow since the show airs tonight and it’s the start of a new season.

Borat wasn’t that good. Never saw Bruno. However, Borat was made famous for his “bathing suite” and it was plastered all over the place when it was running.
I have to disagree
Borat, IMO, is comedic platinum. Priceless, priceless comedy to me. Bruno had a couple, albeit grotesque moments that made me laugh REAL hard, but other than those it blew. Both of those movies came from characters from the Ali G Show (if u didn’t know already).

Can you find the 'W' in this mess? Tebow can.
Ever since this fanshot went up, I feel like it has spread of the ENTIRE site of MHR.
Kind of makes you miss the Nestea days. Those were good days.
Bel15ve
It's the entire background of MHR right now for me
As awkward ad the ad is, it’s doing it’s job.
A. We’re talking about it
B. We know the name of the show
Now i know probably none of you will go out of your way to watch it(don’t it’s a weird show), but the ad is doing it’s job.
is it a comedy in the mold of Tim and Eric Awesome show persay?
"If you went to the Fair with this guy and you played that game where you have to throw the ball through the hole..... he may never get it through the hole, but he's still gonna be walking away with all the stuffed animals!" Prime's commentary on our very own Tim Tebow!!!
"As iron sharpens iron, so will one man sharpen another." The Bible, by way of Tim Tebow.
"If I had to choose between an abundance of football intelligence, or football wisdom, I'd choose wisdom every single time...... John Fox has enough football wisdom to be carried in a dump truck." Me!
Kinda, i only watched half of an episode, so i can't really comment on it
Just from the previews i see occasionally, it looks weird haha
OMG man!!! I was just getting ready to write this
I’ve been about to puke from the man package in my face all day. I know Bena has to do these sorta things… but whoever created these adds for this comedy should be drug out into the street and shot.
YYYYYeeeahhh… a skinny, hairy dude with a gut… in tighty whities… spread eagle (and I’m bettin’ it ain’t bald). Oh heck…. ANY dude, spread eagle in tighty whities is gross…… other than Tebow of course.

it's not gay if it's with Tebow
lol
The Definition of an optimist: A Buffalo Bills fan waiting at Buffalo Niagara International Airport for the Bills to return from winning the Super Bowl.
nope... it's then considered devine

Between the Delocated ad and the annual Superbowl Sunday marketing blitz
I’ve come to the conclusion that I’m sick and tired of marketing strategies that involve being stabbed in the mind with bizarre, offensive, or just plain insulting imagery and ideas. I’d like to be a fly on the wall at some of the meetings where they cook this crap up. “You know what will really make people think Doritos? Having a man lick the cheese off of another man’s fingers! They’ll NEVER be able to get Doritos out of their heads after that!” And they’re right. I’ll never forget that image. But that ad killed Doritos for me. I have ZERO desire to ever eat another Dorito again with that image stuck in my brain. It seems advertisers have become so desperate to gain our attention they’re willing to show us almost anything to get it. But this strategy is backfiring. Oh I’m aware of Delocated now. I might have even watched it if they made a different pitch that didn’t involve a flabby guy in his skivvies. But not anymore.
As the ancient Tibetan Philosophy states "Don't start none, won't be none!"
For What It's Worth
It’s fine & dandy to say you don’t like an ad.
However, please keep in mind, that SBNation controls the advertising, not MHR. If you don’t like something that’s being advertised, contact the editors at SBNation & let them know.

It was in bad taste...
And the powers that be at SBNation apologized to us football bloggers for it…
“All. Just wanted to send an apology to the group for the Adult Swim campaign that ran today. I actually sold the very first campaign ever on SB Nation over 4 years ago and I have never had such broad negative reaction to a campaign. I should have used better judgement in approving this creative. As I mentioned to the group last week, collectively, we are not the target for this and given the success of prior Adult Swim campaigns, I assumed the tolerance for edgy creative would be higher than normal. The biggest mistake was not being more sensitive to your initial feedback. Your proxy for our communities is what makes us valuable to brands as to what will work and what won’t. By not listening to you on this one, a disservice was created to you guys, the communities who place trust in you, and, sadly, the brand that came up with this awful creative. I will do better next time. Thanks for your patience.”
In other words, a mistake was made, we all make them, let’s move on…
