Broncos from my GM box.

First off what a great season for our Denver Broncos!!! I said at the begining of the year that 8-8 would be great for us. Not only did we get to 8-8, but we also won the AFC West Championship!!! Not only that but we won a playoff game for the 1st time in 5 years!!! against the team that knocked us out of the playoffs 5 years ago!!! Way to go EFX. know lets build on that.

Star-divide

Our FA's: FB-Spencer Larsen, WR-Eddie Royal, TE-Daniel Fells, DT-Brodrick Bunkley, OLB-Wesley Woodyard, K-Matt Prater and P-Britton Colquitt.

Other FA's: QB-Shaun Hill, RB-MikeTolbert, WR-Legedu Naanee, DE-Calais Campbell, DT-Amobi Okoyo, and ILB-Dan Connor.

NFL Draft: Trade #25 to Miami for #41 and #72 (720pts-720). Miami moves up to ge Ryan Tannehill, QB, Texas A&M.

#41 Denver Selects---Jared Crick, DT, Nebraska (6'4" 285) Hurt last year, so his draft stock falls some, but I think we get a guy who can put pressure up the middle. SO and JR years he had 9.5 sacks each. I think I was with Suh and was without.

#57 Denver Selects---LaMicheal James, RB, Oregon (5'9" 185). A speedy guy that would put some fear in the D. Last year who did we have??? A 1 cut an d see you later kid. I know most are not going to like this pick, but I think to 2 biggest things we need is inside pressure on D and spped on the O. With the 1st 2 picks I've done that.

#72 Denver Selects---Josh Newman, CB, Coastal Carolina (6'1" 190). A big CB that is underrated. We need somebody at aome point to be able to replace Champ. I'm thorn between Newman and Boykins, but both could be had here.

#88 Denver Selects---Ryan Broyles, WR, Oklahoma (5'11" 187). Another possession receiver. Despite being hurt his last 4 college game he still avgeraged101 catches over his last 3 years in college . an average of 8.7/game. Plus he returns punts.

#120 Denver Selects---Ladarius Green, TE, Louisana-Laf. (6'6" 230).Reminds me of Shannon Sharpe. I know we drafted Thomas and Green last year and I have us resigning Fells, but I think even the Patriots would have liked to have another TE in the Super Bowl. This guy produced in college also with 8 of his 46 games going over 100 yards.

#129 Denver Selects---Joe Adams, WR, Arkansas (5'11" 180). Speed, Speed, Speed. This guy could replace Eddie Royal. 4 punt returns last year including 2 in the opener against Missouri State. Use him in the slot, in the back field as the returner. I like him more then his teammate Jarius Wright.

#152 Denver Selects---Ryan Miller, OT/OG, Colorado (6'8" 312). Keep this kid in Colorado. Great kid. PLays both guard and tackle. Both right and left. great backup until he can become more.

#216 Denver Selects---Russell Wilson, QB, Wisconsin (5'11" 201). There are other Qb's I like better in this draft, but Wilson has that "I'll prove you wrong" mentality like Drew Brees. A year or 2 on the practice squad will do him good and if ever the Rockies need an extra outfielder we can loan him to them.

That is what I would like to see. Let me know what you guy think. GO BRONCOS!!! looking for better next year so................10-6 until we aren't!

Nice mock...

But I don’t like the Broyles pick, we need speed at WR. We already have a Broyles type player in Decker. I like that you had us picking Adams later though, could be a steal late in the draft. I also think Russell Wilson will be gone before the 7th round but that’s just my opinion, but what do I know.

Ya, with Decker and Thomas, but I think Eddie should be used more for his speed down field.

IMO Wilson will be there, if not undrafted because of his size. I also like Darron Thomas, but think that sends the wrong message about how I would like to see our O go.

Most have said DE/DT Jared Crick would be a better fit in a 3/4 scheme...

DE Cam Johnson 6’4 267lbs would be a good pick in the 2nd…

Crick>>>>>>>>>>>>Johnson

Don’t think that is even far. Crick can play any postion on the Dline.

If the Broncos were a 3-4 defense

Then I would be alright with Jared Crick as a 3-4 D End . Crick is a good player but to light in the pants to play inside. The Broncos need a big D Tackle that can stop the run and collapse the pocket from the middle and Crick is just not big enough to handle NFL guards . LaMichael James to small and is a third down back and they have that in Moreno . I love Ryan Broyles as he would be an upgrade to Royal from day one but since you brought Royal back then I would call Broyles a luxury pick they can’t afford . With Thomas and Green and you brought Fells back there is not really a need for another TE. I like the Joe Adams Pick they do need more speed . I think Ryan Miller will be gone before pick152 . I do not see Elway signing off on a short 5’11’’ quarterback . Wilson just is not what Elway wants in a QB that can make plays from the Pocket. In free agency I think they will get a Corner and also re-sign Marcus Thomas . those are my thoughts and I am no expert and hate to be critical

Thanks for the feed back.

IMO Crick can play any postion along the Dline.
JAmes would be a 3rd down, change of pace back. You can’t compare him to Moreno though. Moreno could out run me!!!

It is Josh Norman not Newman.

I don’t really like the draft except for the Jared Crick and Joe Adams picks. I think Crick can actually play DE in the 4-3. I think he is fast enough and powerful enough and can have a Justin Smith type impact. I hope we get him. I also like some think he is too light to play inside in the NFL.

Not a fan of James esp. in rd 2. I’d rather have Turbin in rd 4. Just as small and speedy but with a better body for the NFL.

I don’t like Broyles and really hate the idea of drafting 2 WR in this draft. Of the two I like Adams better late.

Love the Ryan Miller pick but I can’t see him lasting that long. I also don’t love the TE pick. Why are we drafting so much offense?

I'm all for the D, but for some reason I've got alot of O in the draft.

My worry is that we’ll get some D players with Fox and Rio here, but could have problems getting some good O players. The only reason that I took another TE, is because I would cover my a$$. If Green or Thomas don’t develop this off season, then we need something. They always say a QBs best friend is a good TE.

I like Crick and Von said he does too.

That’s good enough for me.

Believe you can and you're halfway there.

I can't find proof.

I read somewhere Von said he would be happy if we drafted Crick. I could be wrong though ‘cause I can’t find it back.

No you're correct.

I remember reading it too. It was on a post on MHR, and it had a link to the actual story.

Out of all our Free Agents

I believe we can get by without resigning a few of them. A huge emphasis needs to be put on Prater (for sure) and Bunkley. After that… I promise you guys we’ll live if we can’t resign the other ones. I have never heard Colquitt was a FA, but that doesn’t mean it isn’t so. If he indeed is, he will be a top priority as well.

Woodyard is a great depth player, and possibly even a decent starter at WILL, but we will survive if he slips through the cracks. If our intention is to move forward with DJ, then Woodyard will more than likely want to play elsewhere. I am completely torn on who I prefer between DJ and Woodyard… both have their own strengths and disadvantages.

Eddie Royal is a great return man… period. He has regressed so horribly since his rookie campaign… I’m not even sure EFX wants him back.

Daniel Fells was a decent starter for us, and as a 1st time Bronco this year (with no offseason), his overall play was pretty good. He made some clutch catches for us (Miami) in some big, big games. If we can, I think he is a secondary priority to resign.

If we can resign Spencer Larsen for cheap, then why not. The FB is becoming a lost art in the league, but every team needs one.

I really like most of your non-Bronco Free Agent signings. The only ones that are iffy to me are Tolbert and Campbell. If Tolbert will cost as much as I think he will… we’d just be better suited to draft a RB. Calais Campbell is arguably a top 3 5-tech in all of football. He’s going to demand INSANE money this offseason. It doesn’t sound like an EFX pickup to me.

As far as Shaun Hill, Legedu Naanee, Dan Conner and Amobi Okoye… that is one of the better FA pickup lists I’ve seen. I’d be very happy if those players came to Denver. Moving on to your mock draft:

Jared Crick is my hero… I’d crap the bed awake if we could nab this young man. People think that some of us are putting TOO high of an emphasis on interior pass rushers, when a balanced DT would suit us better. To them, I say an inside disruptor is needed by this team for much more than just getting after QB’s.

We need a DT who can get into the opponents backfield, and disrupt / reroute running plays before they begin. Tommie Harris (in his prime) made a living doing this…. we need a DT like that to make the whole machine run smoother. I couldn’t imagine how dominant this D could be with upgraded talent at MLB, S, and DT. We could get by with the CB’s on the roster for another year if the other positions I just named were upgraded.

I've been a a big critic of Fells, but looking back on the season he's made some big plays for us like you mentioned.
Jared Crick is my hero… I’d crap the bed awake if we could nab this young man
I literally lol’d reading that, and I don’t do that too often.
I think Crick is going to a very productive DT in this league, my dream mock would be us trading back and nabbing Crick and D.Martin in the 2nd round.

Another TE??

Waste a pick on another TE ..reach or not? In the 3rd round Not for me…
Adams brings more to our table than Broyles does….makes us a better team!
As for Crick… and Norman… for our #25 pick?? If it was for C Konz @25..I say NO…
if it was for DE Ingram…NO….OG DeCastro…NO. LB Upshaw NO…so it all depends who’s still on the table…
Love QB Wilson… but he will be gone by then…OG Miller I love..
So for me…Adams/Miller/Wilson are good for me…james??i’m on the fence with him…
Great post mate!!

Too many offensive players in your mock.

Even if we sign Okoye and resign Bunkley we need more guys who can play inside on the D line. Vickerson will be back, but Warren is a huge “?” Unrein and Garland are not who I want to rely on in those spots.
If we go for a WR in the draft, I want a burner. Willis’ speed has never materialized during the regular season and Eddie hasn’t really been a deep threat since his rookie year.

I love the Connor signing and I like the Crick pick.

Win the individual battles at the LOS - all else flows from that.
