Word on the NFL street is that Hillis is not going to be resigned by the Brown's and will test the FA waters. I for one think if we can get him at a good price we should go for it. Hillis was beloved by broncos fans when he was here and he was only shipped away due to McDaniels stupidity. I know he had a rough season in Clevland, but I tend to think he was kind of used as a scapegoat by that franchise for a bad season, and his agent seemed to be doing a whole lot more of the talking than him. I think he would get a big homecoming in Denver and be welcomed by the city.
Call me crazy but am I the only one who would like to see Peyton Hillis back in the Orange and Blue
We are looking for a running back to help share the load with McGahee. Hillis is a powerful downhill runner that never gives up on a run and fights for extra yards. He is a valuable 3rd down back since he can pick up those short yardage situations and has good hands out of the backfield. He is also great for the goal line. He is the type of back that will suceed in Jon Fox's system. He would be able to take carries of McGahee and leave them both fresh for the season and allow the broncos to run down opponents defenses. As well, we could then spend a 3rd or 4th round pick on a RB instead of a 1st or 2nd, potentially saving us from risky bust RB which are a dime a dozen in the NFL.
