Let me start by saying I am one of the biggest Bronco fans you will ever meet. They are one of my biggest interests which I am sure is something I share with many of you.
What I am about to say may stir the pot a little which I think needs to be done. I have been an avid follower of Mile High Report for the past few months and this is my first post to the site. I feel this site is a meeting ground for the Tebow crazies rather than true Bronco fans. I feel Tim Tebow
is a great person and fun to root for on the field. He seems like a genuinely good person and his behavior off the firld speaks for itself.
That being said, I do not feel he has the tools to be an elite QB in this league. For the "Tebow Zombies" (as I call them) this news may sting the nostrils. If we are to believe Tim Tebow has the tangible qualifications to lead the Broncos
to the Super Bowl it requires one to ignore a mound of evidence to the contrary. What an amazing season we just saw unfold in front of our eyes. I was truly capivated by what happened this year for the Broncos, however I feel that the "Tebow Zombies" are failing to recognize the main reason we suceeded. First, our defense was vastly imporved from a year ago. We had a healthy Dumervil who was able to get to the passer and Miller reaked havoc for offenses all year long. We also saw some good plays from Andre Goodman
and our special teams play was amazing (not surprised we franchised Prater). If you are unsure the value of the special teams' play please ask a Charger's fan. Tim Tebow had some great plays here and there but he was not the main reason for our success and it frustrates me when Bronco "fans" seem to downplay the role the rest of the team had on our success.
If I am to look look at Tebow's play objectively, I must say I see more flaws than Lindsay Lohan's decision making abilities. He has the footwork of a high school QB, and his decision making is poor at best. His throwing motion often telegraps where he intends to throw the ball causing the opposing team's secondary to begin licking their lips in anticipation as he delivers the ball. That may sound harsh and to the "Tebow Zombies" out there but please take a moment to think about what I am saying before you start steaming from the ears. EFX knows football. Together they have decades of experience and they do not believe in Tim's ability. Also, every football analyist aside from Skip Bayless (who is delusional) believes that Tim's style of cannot last long term in the NFL. He will undoubtly become injured (just look at him after the loss to the Pats). It all boils down to the fact he does not have the tools to become a great conventional QB in this league and never will. In addition, a QB cannot be secessful if they do not become primarily a pocket passer because they will get killed out there and opposing defenses are too good at adapting to unconventional styles. Toward the end of the season, defeses leared how to exploit Tebow's weaknesses.
I am a Bronco fan and want nothing more than to see my team win it all. This is why I support Elway's pursuit of Manning. He has demonstrated what it takes to succeed. The perennial playoff Quarterbacks in the NFL all have several traits which Tebow lacks. Among them are footwork, sound decision making, accuracy and the ability to read defenses. Tebow cant do any of these things at the professional level PERIOD. One offseason working with coaches at UCLA wont change any of these things. We need to move on and find us a QB that has what it takes. I know this is hard to accept but it is the truth.
How quickly we forget the accomplishments Elway had in this league when he makes an unpopular move to persue a QB in Manning that possesses all the tools to lead this team to the promise land. You all need to put your emotions on the shelf and get over yourself. The role of a GM is to get the best personel PERIOD and that is what Elway is doing. For that the Tebow worshipers want to crucify him, however I look at Elway with admaritation. As a GM you need to make hard decisions which somtimes are unpopular but best for the team in the long run.
This is exactly what Elway is doing. Please Payton come to the Mile High City.
Tebow- We had a good year. Good luck in Jacksonville!
