Only given 16 games to prove himself...

Even Elway was terrible in his first 16 games. Peyton set the NFL interception record his first 16 games. Tebow went 9-7 with a playoff win against the league's TOP defense. People are quick to forget that Elway's QB rating was in the 70's and below for 9 of his 16 seasons. Yea, Tebow's stats were horrible for a "throwing" QB, but the Duke's completion % was 55 when he won his first superbowl and he only threw for 2806 yards in the second championship season. Proof that you don't need Peyton Manning "stats" to win superbowls. You need a leader of men.

No doubt Peyton is a huge upgrade "right now", but I don't like the idea of letting a very young Tebow get away. If we do get Peyton, I'd be ecstatic for the potential of winning a superbowl sooner than later, but I'd be saddened to see another team potentially win multiple championships with Tebow. I want to be selfish, but it's only right to let Tebow get a starting job somewhere else. I think he's earned it. Even if not in EFX's eyes.

Even the most ardent Tebow haters see with their own eyes that Tebow has an "it" that no one can really explain. I was no Tebow follower in college. I just knew the name, not the player. When he was drafted, I was neither excited or devastated. He started with a clean slate in my eyes. But then I had my doubts because I kept hearing from other people how bad he actually was. With my own analysis, I'm pro Tebow now. I'm on the wagon and outright proud of it. I'm not blind. I see the 1 hoppers and missed throws, but these same eyes saw a 40 yard TD run in his very first start. Then the "impossible" 2 possession comebacks with 2 minutes left in a game. I saw records getting set every other week. I saw a terrible "throwing" QB lead a 1-4 team to it's first winning streak and then playoff appearance in years. I saw an 80 yard TD rocket to finish off his very first playoff game, in overtime. And sadly, now I see his replacement visiting his team's headquarters.

This whole situation is eating me up as a fan. I know Peyton is an upgrade. Every position should always get upgraded if your FO is actually doing it's job. Why wouldn't you want a better team? I just don't see this ending as happy as many think it will. Go back about 20 years ago, then you would understand how I feel when the Broncos considered trading Elway. You would be outraged that the FO would even consider it. Then again, there would be a split with the ones that felt we needed to go a different direction at the QB position. Ultimately, they chose Elway and it turned out for the best. Can't say the same for the Chargers and Brees.

It's sad that I see posters feeling the need to clarify that they are "broncos fans" instead of the other option "tebow fans". Well, I'm happily a Bronco/Tebow fan just like thousands were Bronco/Elway fans back in the day. I just want all this drama to finish so we can get back to being a united Bronco Country.
