He never had a chance. As a rookie he played extremely well without his head coach and without reps. As a soph QB without training camp and without reps he took our team to the playoffs. He was bashed for running it even though he's O-line was better at run blocking than they were at pass blocking- which was the main reason they ran so much. They blamed Tim's accuracy for all the running instead of acknowledging that the Head Coach is a lover of the running game. They failed to see that Tebow throws tons of balls away in order to keep the ball safe, instead they bashed his completion percentage. The blame Tebow for the 3rd down conversion percentage instead of noticing how bad the 3rd down route schemes were. They say any success was brought on by luck and divine intervention and not by the gutsy kid who will run your ass over to win.
Our defense was below average - especially without Dawkins. Our receivers as a unit were below average. Our TE's were nothing about which to write home. And the kid that was never really supported - who was called the 4th string QB - took over and brought the team to heights not seen since Elway. And what did Tim get after bringing us such a exciting season? The right to be the starter "going in" to training camp. Then comes today's signing.
Manny is awesome and will bring wins to the team, I'm sure of it. I'm still going to miss the kid who made me proud to be a Bronco fan- more so than any other time in the last 30 years. Winning super bowls is great- but when a kid gives his all on the field and gives his all to the sick and needy kids around the world -- you begin to realize you want more from your QB and team. We could have had both.
