I'm curious as to where an active list of available free agents would be? I'd like to look at what Denver's options are at some of the needed positions, qb, rb, dt, lb, etc.
I could watch the ticker at the bottom of NFL network, but if I have to see the dude with the huge ears much more.. I'll lose my cool.
Also, with out reading through the countless other threads on the topic, and creating a new one, what are your expectations for this season? Do you guys see Peyton coming in and the offense gelling right away? I think it would be too much for us to expect everyone to be on the same page early on with Peyton and his style of play. He played with the same players, minus a few fill in wr's here and there, a large majority of his career. Are our linemen intelligent enough to match Peyton's style and be the line an aging and potentially liable qb needs? Is Willis going to have the same success running a more traditional style of offense with out the lanes Tebow created? Is knowshon going to be able to be utilized the way he was intended? And how is he recovering? Looming suspension from him as well? What are we going to do at Linebacker with D.J. out potentially half the season? I loved Timmy, the spark he brought, the desire, the inspiration, the indescribable acts of greatness on the field, the chance he gave us. I'll miss that dearly, but I'm not as naive as to say that I'm not happy to see him go. I, like a lot of people, respect Tebow, but cannot stomach the gut wrenching style of play he brings. I thrive for pretty passes, dominate, unquestioned wins, a chance to win every time we step out on the field, not just in our minds and hearts, but on paper too. Peyton brings us something Tebow cannot and probably won't for a long time, and that's pure qb play. A field general that strikes fear into the opposition, not with his legs and uncanny abilities, but because of his reputation, his accurate arm, and his brilliant football mind. I would not trade last season for anything, sans a super bowl win, it was one of the greatest stories ever in sports. A great run with ups and downs, cheers and jeers, but boy am I glad to see it go.. I love TimmyT, and I will forever root for the man, but Peyton gives us something we've been missing for 15 years. A hall of famer behind center.
There's a lot of questions I have and haven't been in the loop around here lately. I'm very anxious to see what Peyton Manthing can bring to the Rockies. I'm anxious to see how BayBay and Decker(pending his recovery was smooth and with out further issue) react to playing a more sophisticated offense with out Kyle "Paper Ankles" Orton or Tim "Jesus" Tebow throwing to them. An elite qb always makes his receivers better, and it doesn't hurt to have the ability to throw someone open like Peyton has. I'm really interested to see how they fit the mold and how they perform. I'd like to see Matt Willis be utilized more, also. I see him being like a Garcon/Collie type receiver. I think he can come in and contribute well. Also, any word on Julius Thomas's progression? Are we going to actually see him on the field this season?
On the Defensive side, I love the signing of Tracy Porter. I feel he can contribute far better than Goodman, and is a better tackler. Goodman, while not bad, was never fit to be opposite champ. It takes a talented No. 2 to pick up the extra looks. Defensive tackle is still suspect again this off season. With bunkley gone, warren and vickerson recovering from injuries, Thomas's contract suspect, what do you see us doing this year? Signing a free agent? If so which? And what are the draft prospects looking like this year? I know last year was bountiful on the defensive line, I know little to nothing about this years pack. And again, linebacker.. what are we going to do there? A lot of big named and talented lb's are off the board already. I would have loved Wimbley, he's solid. Dawkins? What is his status? Are we willing to bring him back one last year? Player/coach kind of role? Limited perhaps? Are we even going to consider him taking the field? I'd love to see the Wolverine one last year. Have him healthy for late in the season. His coverage is suspect, but he can still teach and help while playing a limited role. He's still a damn explosive player. I'm excited to see Fox and Del Rio back together again, very excited.
Sorry for the directionless barrage of questions. I'd just like to play catch up. All the news I've seen/read lately is Manning this, Tebow this, Saints this. I'd like to get back into a Orange and Blue mindset. One of old. One with a promise of winning with out all of the negative attention our way. I've never seen our Broncos in the limelight as much as we have been these past few years. It started with Josh McD, through the cutler saga, then B-Marsh, then Tebow, more Tebow, and more Tebow, yet more, and more TimmyT, then Manning, back to Timmy, back to Manning again. And still with all that media attention, North Carolina stores still carry nothing Bronco related... With that aside, I'm excited, as all of you are I'm sure. Super Bowl champs till we're not. Go Broncos!!
Oh by the way, it sure feels good to be ORANGE again! :D
