Von Miller named Porter as our #2 CB in Miller's response to a question today. Who do you think should be our #2?

I was listening to Von's press conference on the Bronco's website, and around the ten minute mark I picked up on something that Von said.

"If we can get up by 10 or 14, you know, have Champ, you know, on the #1 receiver and Porter on the #2 receiver and having me 'n' Elvis comin' off the edge, I think, you know, no question we'll be playing to our strengths as a defense."

This was Von's response to a question from the press asking if he had talked to Elvis about the opportunities coming their way due to playing with Peyton Manning (having the lead and being able to rush the passer almost every down).

Von mentioned Champ as our #1 corner (duh), and Porter was the #2 corner in Von's scenario.

When MHR posted that the Broncos had signed Tracy Porter, there were mixed reactions in the comments, fan posts, etc. Some felt the veteran, Andre Goodman, had served his purpose and should be let go. Others felt that Porter was not a significant upgrade over Goodman, and some even went so far as to say Porter would be a step down from our current #2 CB.

It could be that Champ Bailey's elite level of play has spoiled me, but Goodman's coverage almost always made me wince. It seems like every time we got burned deep (or given up mid-range chunks of yardage consistently) in the last couple years I'd yell out one of two names: Goodman, or he whose name we will not mention (rhymes with Shmate Shmones and he plays for NE now last I checked). Don't get me wrong, Goodman has made some great game-saving plays too including last years pick-six to help us come back against the Jets.

I haven't watched Porter play very much, and I don't trust statistics as much as I do the carefully researched opinions of the football wizards here at MHR, So, my question to you all is, what should the depth chart look like after Champ (in your mind, right now, before TC)? In my mind there are 3 choices: Porter (newcomer), Chris Harris (fan favorite undrafted stud), and Syd'Quan Thompson (the "dark horse" so to speak, coming back from an injury). Other possible choices include Cassius Vaughn or a potential draft pick.
