"...we moved up 25 spots to the top of the fourth, which we really believe this is a deep draft. It’s not real thick at the top, but it’s pretty deep through the middle rounds. We thought by adding another good pick it gives us more options going into tomorrow. Plus we’ll still be able to get the same people that we had targeted that made it to us at 25 at 36..." - John Elway
So who do we pick with the 4th and 25th picks in the second?I'm rather unhappy with only getting one 4th round pick out of trading back twice, albeit a high 4th rounder. I was hoping for more. But I digress. So who do we pick?
Cordy Glenn would be a nice pickup, supposedly he can play tackle, allowing Orlando Franklin to move inside to guard to either supplant Beadles or replace a still injured Kuper. Not my favorite.
We could pick Stephen Hill and have two Georgia Tech speedsters to PFM to throw to. Mmmmm, nah.
Courtney Upshaw, anyone. Pop him in to replace Robert Ayers? What about Vinny Curry or Jarek Crick at DE?
Peter Konz to replace D.J. Walton at center. I like that idea, but I don't know that Peter Konz is the guy, I think David Molk is better than Konz and can be had in the 3rd or 4th round (where we have like 37 picks).
Coby Fleener? If the FO does that, I'm going to be pissed. We got Jacob Tamme and Joel Dreesden at TE as well as prospects Virgil Green and Julius Thomas, who may standout now that we have a decent QB. We don't need no stinkin' Fleener.
Kendall Reyes, Jerel Worthy, Brandon Thompson, Devon Still or Alameda Ta'amu. I wouldn't be surprised to see a DT taken on Day 2, but it wouldn't surprise me if it didn't happen until late in the day in the 3rd round. Maybe Mike Martin or Derek Wolfe. but Elway did say they like who they have at DT more than most outside the walls of Dove Valley, so maybe none of these guys.
I think that cornerback is our highest need. I think we may take a CB at 36. Do we gamble with Janoris Jenkins or Alfonzo Dennard? I have stated over and over again that I don't want Jenkins. I'll say it again: We have had too many Perrish Cox's, Nate Websters and his 15 year old babysitter, Maurice Clarrett, Matt Prater’s DUI, Kenny McKinley, Brandon Marshall and his slippery McDonald’s wrappers, Brandon Marshall and his girlfriends, Darrent Williams shot to death after being out with Brandon Marshall. I want football players, not thugs and criminals. Ok, that said, who does EFX like at CB? Casey Hayward or Josh Robinson?
If you take a CB with #36, then do we take a WR or RB with #57? Or are we back to looking at center or guard?
If they take a RB, who? Lamar Miller is still there, Isaiah Pead, LaMichael James, Robert Turbin (I really like his running mate at Utah State a lot as well; Michael Smith), Ronnie Hillman and Chris Polk are all in the running as well as half a dozen others.
If they stop to grab a Plan B QB (I know Elway said there is no Plan B, but he's lying. if you don't have a Plan B you're and idiot and get fired the next year. Look at Bill Polian... not that Bill is an idiot, I have a world of respect for the guy, but if he'd had a decent backup QB for a guy going into neck surgery he'd probably still have a job and Washington would have been drafting Andrew Luck.), who do they grab? Kirk Cousins? Osweiler or Foles? ick. I want Kellen Moore in the 5th or 6th personally, but I'm not running the draft room.
There is a bunch of guys at LB available where we have a need. Zach Brown, Bobby Wagner, Andre Branch, Lavonte David, Mychal Kendricks, Sean Spence, Jonathan Massaquoi...
So what do you guys think?
