In the midst of the offseason we are left to really stretch our minds when it comes to Broncos football. For me that means thinking of my favorite plays. There are several lists out there with Top-5 this, or Top-100 that, but I thought I would think of just one - my favorite Broncos highlight - to throw out there today and ask you to give us yours in the comments.
I've been a Denver Broncos fan for well over 30 years, including all of John Elway's career. That means there are plenty of great highlights to choose from. One, however, takes the cake and wraps up not only Elway's career, but the pinnacle of my Broncos fandom.
Super Bowl XXXII will always hold a special place in my heart - in the hearts of all Broncos Country. It was the team's first World Championship in it's 5th try. While younger fans may not remember, there was a time when people thought John Elway couldn't win the big game, that despite all the come-from-behind victories, he came up small in the biggest moments. The Broncos were double-digit underdogs to Brett Favre and the Green Bay Packers, but behind Elway(with a little help from Terrell Davis) Denver beat the Packers.
The play, which has become known as the 'Helicopter' has come to epitomize John Elway. Sure he had a freakish arm, but he will and desire to win - no matter what - is what separates him. Enjoy this highlight, my favorite Broncos moment, and take time to let us know yours.
