Hi fellow fans of the Orange and Blue,
I really feel good about most areas of the team this year...with a few exceptions. The corner position is very deep as long as Porter, Champ and Florence can stay healthy. I feel a lot better about the safety spot with the addition of Mkie Adams (learned he led the Browns in INT's last year) and QC playing well towards the end of 2011. The DT position is not a huge weakness with the addition of Wolfe and having Warren healthy.
I cant shake my worries about the LB spot. Klis was on the radio talking about how Mays is severly underrated and offered into evidence the fact he was heavily recruited by the Saints and another team (cant remember which one). To me though he made a lot of errors last year and has been very suspect in the passing game. Who knows about Irving? Will he be ready to turn into the player EFX imagined when they drafted him...only time will tell. It seems we have a lot of very inexperienced players to compete for DJ's spot. Many have potentinal such as Trevathan and Woodyard but I am concerned about our ability to shut down the league's premier rushing/passing teams with our brutal schedule by relying on UDFA's/late round picks.
The Patriots, The Saints, The Panthers, The Falcons...these are all teams with offensive capabilities. How can we expect a career backup or UDFA to come in and dominate these teams? And also how can we expect Mays to be the QB of the defense and also finally step up his pass defense game?
I just see a lot of question marks at two of the three LB positions. Please guys help me see the optomism instead of all these question marks.
