I know that several threads have been written over the past few months about the DL in which many of us voiced concerns over the depth and quality of the players. I'm alot more confident in this group of DLmen than I was about last year's players.
This DL, while not elite, is an improvement over last year: Bannon & Warren can play the 1, 3 or 5 tech which allows Del Rio some flexibility to mix and match or create mis-matches...Wolfe has seen playing time at DT & DE & I'm not completely sure if he'll be moved around also. We know that he was a 3 tech penetrator in College & spent considerable time wreaking havoc in the opponent's backfield...Del Rio likes his motor/attitude & I think we have a good player who will continue to get better & better.
It appears that Del Rio lit a fire under Ayers and he's held his DE position for now...Props to JDR letting these players know that their job can & will be lost if they don't continue to work for it...Everyday!
I like what little I've seen of Malik Jackson and I hope he can fit into the rotation without losing ground.
