2012 has been a hard year for the state of Colorado.

Colorado was smothered with several wildfires throughout the state in June and July. Hundreds of homes were destroyed and two lives were taken.

In late July, at the premier of "The Dark Knight Rises," a shooting in a theater in Aurora, Colorado killed 12 and injured 58.

The Denver Broncos will wear a decal on the back of their helmets that is of a ribbon and the state flag to pay respect to the tragedies.

Broncos linebacker Von Miller had this to say in his blog:

"We had a lot of stuff happen around Denver in the last year and we just want to bring some happiness and joy - and hopefully some wins - back to Colorado this season."

Thoughts and prayers go out to all the victims.
