September 9, 1960, 1984, 1990, 2007 - The Broncos have played four games on September 9th. All have been on the road, three were season openers, two were wins. The Broncos very first game as a franchise was on Friday, September 9, 1960 when they traveled to Boston to take on the Patriots. Denver won that game -- the very first game played in the newly formed American Football League -- 13-10.

Denver's next two games (1984, 1990) were both losses. The first to the Chicago Bears 0-27 in 1984 and the second to the Los Angeles Raiders 9-14 in the season opener of the 1990 regular season. Denver got back on a winning track when they traveled to Buffalo to open the 2007 regular season. The Broncos escaped Buffalo with a 15-14 win when Bronco kicker Jason Elam connected on a 42-yard field goal as time expired.
