The playoffs are on the line as two AFC West rivals face one another for the second time this season. The Denver Broncos (11-2) are prepared for their last home game of the 2013 regular season as they face the San Diego Chargers (6-7) on Thursday Night Football on the NFL Network. The Broncos are looking to clinch their third straight AFC West title, while the Chargers are desperate to win out to keep their playoff hopes alive.
While this might be Denver's last regular season home game, if the Broncos win, and a couple of other games go their way this weekend, the Broncos will have clinched a home playoff game. The stakes could hardly be higher as these two teams square off in Week 15.
Highlighting the game will be the league's two premiere passers in 2013, Peyton Manning and Philip Rivers. Manning has 45 touchdowns on the year - only six away from breaking the all-time NFL record - while Rivers has been Manning's mirror image in passing efficiency and yardage output in 2013.
Adding to the drama are the words of San Diego Chargers head coach Mike McCoy, who stated that the Chargers wouldn't just play the Broncos close this week - they would win.
Anything that adds fuel to the fire of my favorite rivalry is good in this Broncos fan's book, so here's hoping the Broncos and Chargers give the NFL a great game on the national spotlight on Thursday night -- and that the Broncos come out on top.
