Chris Trotman

Terrific Tom keeps the Denver Broncos in the hunt for AFC's top seed in AFC Playoff race.

The Miami Dolphins (8-6) defeated the New England Patriots (10-4) 24-20 at home on Sunday afternoon. New England's loss keeps the Denver Broncos (11-3) as the favorites to win the No. 1 seed in the AFC Playoff race.

If the Cincinnati Bengals (9-4) can defeat the Pittsburgh Steelers (5-8) on Sunday Night Football this evening, they will be in position to claim in the AFC's No. 2 seed. Meanwhile in the AFC West, the Kansas City Chiefs (10-3) are currently the No. 5 seed and second place in the AFC West.

If the Broncos can win out by defeating the Houston Texans (2-11) in Week 16 and the Oakland Raiders (4-9) they will finish the year 13-3, winning the AFC West and claiming the AFC's top playoff seed, securing home field advantage in the playoffs.

In Miami on Sunday afternoon, the Patriots were trailing 24-20 with seven seconds remaining and faced a 4th-and-five. Quarterback Tom Brady's pass was intercepted in the end zone and the Dolphins held on for the win.

The Broncos now control their playoff fate once again.
