Broncos waive Walton, Sign Mincey

Chris Humphreys-US PRESSWIRE

The Broncos have decided to part ways with Center J.D Walton. Walton was selected in the third round(80th overall selection) in the 2010 draft. He has been dealing with injuries for the past two seasons, and with the emergence of Manny Ramirez at center the Broncos have decided to move on.

I saw speculation amongst some that this signing may signal that DE Derek Wolfe who is dealing with an illness was headed to the IR. The release of Walton seems to indicate that Wolfe is recovering well, and hopefully will be back on the field sooner rather then later.

It will be interesting to see where Mincey fits into the DE rotation though. It's a pretty crowded position with Wolfe, Jackson, Ayers, Von, and Phillips all see time at DE during a game.
