Listen, I have been and always will be a Indianapolis Colts fan. I watched every game Peyton played in Indy and was so proud he was our quarterback. He still is my favorite player and I am grateful for all the wonderful memories he left us with hear in Indiana when he was a colt.
But now what he is accomplishing with his new team in Denver is just amazing! It is obvious he is having fun playing with his new team mates, he has embraced the city and invested both his money and his heart in Denver. Denver has responded by really embracing Peyton.
Mr. Irsay proved to be so ungrateful. While the fans hear in Indy were thankful for Manning and sad to see Peyton go, Irsay left Peyton feeling stunned and hurt. On the other hand, Mr. Bowlen and Mr. Elway leaped at the chance to get Peyton and were responsible for giving him a new chapter in an already incredible career.
Denver needed Peyton Manning and deserved him but Peyton needed Denver too. He needed a football town that would fully appreciate and embrace him. It was a match made in football heaven.
I believe Peyton will play several more years, win a Superbowl or two (or three?) and retire the greatest QB who ever played and one of the two legendary QB's from the Broncos proud history. Peyton is now truly and forever a Denver Bronco. I am happy that much of Peyton's storied past will be as a Colt but when all is said and done he will be remembered as the Colt who was pushed out as too old and injured only to cement his legacy as the greatest QB ever as a Denver Bronco.
While I am a little jealous that Indy will not have that honor, I am happy for Peyton and the great football city of Denver that both appreciates and deserves him.
