Broncos' Peyton Manning, Montee Ball Nominated for Weekly Awards

John Rieger-USA TODAY Sports

Following Sunday's 35-28 victory over Kansas City, two Broncos have been nominated for weekly award. Voting runs through Friday.

John Elway had Terrell Davis.

Peyton Manning has Knowshon Moreno. And Montee Ball.

The Kansas City Chiefs slowed Moreno down on the ground on Sunday (he rushed 15 times for 18 yards) but they were unable to slow down the emotional veteran as a receiver, as he hauled in four passes for 72 yards and a score. Moreno's 31-yard reception in the fourth quarter exemplified the passion and determination Moreno has showed this season.

While Moreno was slowed on the ground, his rookie teammate exploded onto the scene. Ball rushed 13 times for 117 yards, giving Denver a dangerous one-two punch in their backfield.

With a strong rushing attack, Denver remained balance on offense while Peyton Manning went 22-of-35 for 403 yards and five scores (four of which went to receiver Eric Decker). It was a solid day at the office for Denver's offense all around.

Consequently, two Broncos players have been nominated for weekly awards. Manning has been nominated for the Air Player of the Week award and Ball has been nominated for both the Ground Player of the Week and Rookie of the Week awards on NFL.com.

Voting for the awards will run through Friday morning.
