Mock! Yeah! Ing! Yeah! Bird! Yeah!

The big night is just around the corner and the temptation to do just one more mock is downright irresistible. Mel Kiper has us taking Xavier Rhodes with our first round pick in his latest mock while Todd McShay has us taking Bjoern Werner. The "experts" are almost always wrong but I actually think both players are distinct possibilities for us at #28. Mocking trades is a fool's errand so these will be straight picks.

If I were in charge these are the guys I would take:

Round 1 Pick #28: Bjoern Werner, DE, Florida State

The fact that a lot of big name mock drafts have us taking Werner 28th overall makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside. With Doom gone we need to find a replacement and the 6'3" 266lbs Werner would be absolutely perfect, he's an even more talented version of Derek Wolfe.

(Alternative picks: Manti Te'o, ILB, Notre Dame or Matt Elam, SS, Florida)

Round 2 Pick #58: Le'Veon Bell, RB, Michigan State

I've said it before and I'll say it again, using a first or second round pick on a running back seems asinine in today's NFL but if we're hell bent on doing it we've got to get a great prospect. Bell is big and durable, he'd be our workhorse when Peyton needs to rest his arm.

(Alternative picks: Damontre Moore, DE, Texas A&M or Montee Ball, RB, Wisconsin)

Round 3 Pick #90: Kiko Alonso, ILB, Oregon

I don't believe John for an instant, I know the Broncos can't be any happier with their middle linebackers than we fans are. Alonso isn't one of the big names in this year's draft and he does have some character issues but he' the type of player who could improve our team.

(Alternative picks: Bennie Logan, DT, LSU or Ryan Swope, WR, Texas A&M)

Round 4 Pick #125: Tharold Simon, CB/S, LSU

Simon isn't quite fast enough to be a starting cornerback in the NFL but he'd be a perfect strong safety prospect.

(Alternative picks: Oday Aboushi, OT, Virginia or Kevin Reddick, ILB, North Carolina)

Round 5 Pick #161: Corey Fuller, WR, Virginia Tech

With DT, Eric Decker, and Wes Welker we're set at wide receiver this year but the future is a different question. Corey Fuller has some size and decent speed, he would developmental prospect with starter potential if somebody gets hurt.

(Alternative picks: Josh Boyd, DT, Mississippi State or Alvin Bailey, OG, Arkansas)

Round 7 Pick #234: Kwame Geathers, DT, Georgia

Geathers isn't exactly the Kawaan Short I wanted so bad before Doom jumped ship but you've got to roll with the punches and find value where you can. We are very thin at defensive tackle and badly need some depth.

(Alternative picks: Rodney Smith, WR, Florida State or Earl Wolff, SS, N.C. State)

There it is, now I can sleep easier knowing I've published one final mock draft. Tell me what you think.
