Someone stated that MLB Stewert Bradley could be this years Drayton Florence, but Florence was a June cut from the Bills, not an open market player from the free agency signing period. Still, I get the surprise vet being cut.
However, I think we will see Elway try to trade off a few players, similar to Cassius Vaughn last year. Tony Carter probably being candidate #1. We have team friendly contracts with quite a few players who could be traded away, for low round picks or camp competition.
At any rate, I'm sure we will see some heated camp competition added in the form of June roster cuts, or vets being humbled into vet minimum contracts with incentives, similar to what Shawn Phillips accepted. The Freeny's, Urlacher's, and the Abraham's out there still.
Don't be shocked if a few cut vets are willing to take less pay to play for a ring instead of a few dollars more. Those are the types of players Elway wants in the locker room, players with a chip on their shoulder or something to prove. Players who come here on incentive laden deals are gonna give 110%, but hopefully it wont lead to sacrificing the good of the team for individual stats. (i.e. ignoring the potential draw hand-off to the running back because a player has incentives for sacks, or going for a fumble strip/interception instead of the tackle/safer play.)
We won't need a bunch of great heroics on defense, just a steady hand. I'd rather we gamble on offense then have a bunch of defenders going for big plays at all costs.
The Raves were a fluke, just like the Jaguars back in the day.
Time for our second set of back-to-back Super Bowls on the twilight of a Hall-of-Fame QB's career. Would two Super Bowl Wins in a Broncos Uni get Manning to consider retiring a Bronco? I hope so!
