The off-season is slow as usual; not much news coming and going. So I figured I would do some free writing and let my thoughts flow.
People often wonder why I root for the Denver Broncos being from Chicago, I can never really say why I just couldn't help myself for rooting for the Broncos as Champ picked off Brady in the playoffs only to be stopped at the NE goal line by Benjamin Watson, I couldn't help to feel the pain as they lost a week later to the Pittsburgh Steelers, and couldn't help choosing Denver when I would play my brother in Madden. I didn't choose to root and love the Denver Broncos, I couldn't help it.
Being an immature teen it could have been easy to root for the Bears with my Dad or some other team that was winning; but I stuck with the Broncos through thick and thin. The horrid years with Shanahan and arguably the worst defense football has ever seen, the rebuilding years with Kyle Orton and Josh McDainels that went terribly wrong. To the hiring of John Fox and Elway being put in charge of football operations and the old vets battling for another championship as their careers are dwindling down.
I can only hope the glory for the Denver Broncos can continue well into the future. Watching the Broncos and key pieces of this football team to stick around and fight for where they are now make me proud to be a fan of the Orange & Blue. I couldn't see myself rooting for any other team or expressing the love I do for the Broncos, not even the Bears. My biggest dream is to see Champ Bailey to raise the Lombardi the player that triggered my love for the Broncos.
The highs, the lows, the happiness, the pain is worth every second I've been obsessed with this team.
