I saw a comment on an NFL.com article from some ignorant fool about how Flacco was better than Manning and how Manning was one hit away from a coffin yada yada yada and then he mentioned how Flacco's postseason record is better than Manning's. Since all postseason wins means is that you had a good team (see Trent Dilfer, Brad Johnson etc.) I decided to compare Flacco's postseason stats with Manning's postseason stats from the last five years (I started with 2007 for Manning since he sat out '11 just to have 5 years of data for each candidate). The numbers shook out like this.
Flacco: Completion percentage = 55.2% (Blaine Gabbert's is 53.8% in his career, he's pretty good right?)
QB Rating = 78.8
Manning: Completion percentage = 66.1%
QB Rating = 96.7
Suprise Suprise Manning's numbers are drastically better.
Suffice it to say, if I'm going to pay $100+ million for a QB I'll take PFM over Flakeo any day!
Note: I only went with percentage stats since TD's and INT's are skewed by the number of games you play in the postseason, and that's factored into QB rating anyway.
