I'd like to start by thanking those of you who take so much of your time to write, and contribute to MHR. I have been a loyal follower of Broncostalk.net and MHR for about 5 years or so now. I'm not a blogger, or writer, and have never posted a comment until today. I read MHR almost every day and start many of my days with a cup of coffee and the MHR...with that I thank you!
NEXT- Yesterday I listened to the interview with Brian McCarty, the PR guy for the NFL on 104.3 the Fan. I was outraged at his justification of the signage that has been plastered all over our city.
This morning I was reading the piece by Jon Heath suggesting that we contact many agencies and individuals and explain our views regarding the Flacco posters...fast forward and I'm sitting in traffic and decide, "you know what I'm gonna call that NFL PR guy and tell him what I think." I never expected that he would actually answer or that he would talk with me at length about the controversy. First let me explain that I was shocked and it took me a few stumbling minutes to introduce myself and tell him my thoughts...after the shock wore off we bantered about the issue. His justification is that this is much like the Superbowl and each team should be represented. It took a few minutes, but he did admit again, as he did in his interview on the Fan that this game should be played in Baltimore and we are "lucky" to have it here in Denver. Again, I explained that we don't care that the Ravens should be playing at home for the opening of the NFL season. We, Broncos fans support our team and care deeply that they are represented fairly, and this is anything but fair. We obviously disagreed, and although polite as well and smug Mr. McCarty did take my call and we did have a good conversation.
As Jon Heath suggested, reach out and contact those listed in his article...you might just be surprised who is listening. ALSO remember to be polite and professional, I'm sure that the length of my conversation with Mr. McCarty would have been cut short had I used any of the 4 letter words I would have liked to while speaking to him.
Again...thank you MHR, and GO BRONCOS!
