Surprise, Peyton Manning is AFC Offensive Player of the Week

Chris Humphreys-USA TODAY Sports

Manning's 24th such award breaks the record.

(To no one's) Surprise, Peyton Manning is your Week 1 AFC Offensive Player of the Week in 2013.

Manning completed 27-of-42 passes (64.3%) for 462 yards with seven touchdowns (141.1 rtg.) in Denver’s 49-27 season-opening win against the defending Super Bowl-champion Baltimore Ravens. His seven touchdowns matched the NFL record (last accomplished by Minnesota’s Joe Knapp in 1969), while his 462 yards tied for the third-highest single-game total in Broncos history.

He became the first player in NFL history to connect for multiple touchdowns with three different targets, tossing two scoring passes apiece to tight end Julius Thomas and wide receivers Demaryius Thomas and Wes Welker.

This marks Manning's 24th such award, putting him in front of Tom Brady for the most Conference Player of the Week awards in NFL history.

Manning is also nominated for FedEx Air Player of the Week, which technically means he needs your vote. Before you think that is also a shoo-in, let's not pull a Bart Simpson and fail to vote for PFM altogether.

Congratulations Peyton Manning on another accomplishment in a career full of them.
