Win Now

You know I woke up this morning with an interesting, albeit dreadful, but completely honest thought: we're not going to re-sign Demaryius Thomas. We've watched this young man develop from a raw, sometimes unmotivated talent, to one of the top wide receivers in the league. And while we, here at MHR, may know his shortcomings full well, to the national press and talent starved teams around the league, he is a darling.

Mark my words, DT will want Calvin Johnson money. And mark my words twice, Elway will let him free.

These players are savvy, and they know that their run with Peyton Manning must inevitably come to an end in a couple of years. Demaryius will not be so allured by the opportunity to play with PFM, when he knows that may only be the case for the first year or two of his new contract.

My case in point here, is that sometimes it takes that perspective to reveal how truly blessed we are as Broncos fans at this moment. The stars have certainly aligned in the development of two starting caliber receivers, the acquisition of Welker, and the surprise (to everyone outside of MHR) emergence of JT. We are looking at the greatest offense of all time. And, like all good things in this league, it is a house of cards from a contract standpoint. It will fizzle away into nothingness over the next couple of years and we will be looking at a surprisingly different, but hopefully just as potent, Broncos team three years from now.

Playoff weekend is upon us. Let's win now.
