What's quicker than Peyton Manning's arm?
Peyton Manning was in rare form today.
Always a great interview, Manning was particularly coy, candid, loose, and open Thursday, his last day of media availability before Sunday's Super Bowl XLVIII.
Take his response to Richard Sherman's comment that he throws 'ducks.'
"I believe it to be true as well," Manning said with a smile, garnering laughs from the media. "I do throw 'ducks.' I've thrown a lot of yards and touchdowns 'ducks.' I am actually quite proud of it."
Peyton Manning was asked to name his Top Three Quarterbacks of All Time.
"Me and my buddies don't discuss that," Manning replied. "I don't have a list. I think I could describe the perfect quarterback. Take a little piece of everybody. Take John Elway's arm, Dan Marino's release, maybe Troy Aikman's dropback, Brett Favre's scrambling ability, Joe Montana's two minute poise... and, naturally my speed."
A reporter jumped on Manning's levity and quizzed him: Could he name the other two quarterbacks in NFL history to start in the Super Bowl for two different teams?
"I can name them. Do you want me to help you with the answer?" More laughter, before Manning correctly recited Kurt Warner and Denver's own Craig Morton as the previous finishers of the feat.
Finally, to the delight of Broncos fans, Manning talked about what his time in Denver has meant to him. "I've said all along that I feel more comfortable this year than I did last year. Last year, I felt like a visitor the entire time."
"It wasn't the Broncos," Manning continued. "The Broncos made me feel as welcome as they possibly could. You feel like an outsider. It's probably because I was so entrenched in one organization for so long. You can't just transition right away. This year, I can't tell you how much more comfortable I feel. Once again, I have to thank the Broncos for that. They just continued to open their arms up and welcome me. Coach Fox, John Elway, Pat Bowlen - the organization has just embraced me. I'm appreciative of that. I think time has helped that more than anything.
"I'm proud to be a Denver Bronco right now and proud to be in the Super Bowl representing the Broncos."
