So many rumors and guesses at this point in the season, so thought I'd add my own: I'm going to let most of our free agents ride into the Orange sunset, but I do think we need to keep the following: DRC (gets some of Champs$), Harris, Unrein,& Caldwell. I'll also keep Ayers and Koppen if their price is right. I don't see us paying the price to keep Decker or Beadles. I love Champ, but he's going to have to take a drastic paycut and move to FS to get one more chance at a ring. Free agents we go after (other than our own)...Sam Shields CB form Green Bay, and Jared Allen (If we don't keep Ayers)... yes , Peyton is going to have to restructure a bit to make this work $ wise, but I' think he'll do it for another chance at the SB. We can afford to backload his contract a bitas it'll be offset when Oz takes over with a cap friendly #. Draft - I'm going to propose a trade that I think is win - win. NY Jets have two 3 rd,s. We give them #31 which they use to mave up and snag Dee Ford, and we get their 2nd (49) and one of their two 3rds (80). We now have 49,63,80,95,127,& 223 ( I htink the 2nd to 4th rounds hold some gems at cap friendly #'s). #49 - Arron Donald DT Pitt... We're not going to be able to keep Vick and PotRoast forever. Donald's a bit small (especially for DelRio) but his non stop motor and small mans demenor will make a great tandem with Williams in the future. #63 - Deone Bucannon SS Washington State - This is my Steve Atwater of the future... a safety thats not afraid to stick his head in their and blow up the ballcarrier... #80 - Chris Borland ILB Wisco - another heads up, but smaller player that will finally put a little "thump" back in our middle. Always around the ball, not as athletic as a Jones or Smallwood... but somehow always gets to the ball. You could subsitute Smallwood here and I'd not be disappointed. #95- Weston Richberg - C Colorado State - Of all my picks, I'm least sure of him being here when we pick, but he's a stud, and can play C or Guard. Would give great flexability and be a long term starter.* #127 -Donte Montcrief - WR Ole Miss... Eric Deckers replacement. Big, fast, soft hands. Once we resign D Thomas next year we'll have Thomas/Montcrief/Calwell/ G Robinson (this is his year finally), we'll need to look for another slot rec next year after Welker finishes his contract out. Combine these guys with Julius Thomas and Peyton should be just fine. #191 - Lorenzo Taliianferro - RB Costal Carolina At this point it's really a guess, but he looked good in some of the post season work and gives us a back up behind Ball and Anderson #223- Pierre Desine - CB Linden... Division II guy who may or may not make it, but again showed well in the senior bowl. Good cover man and remember where Chris Harris came to us from (undrafted) * My new Oline is: Clady (LT), Franklin (LG), Rameriez/Richberg (C),Vasquez (RG) and we move Clark to RT. If we can avoid the injury bug, this could be a dominent unit! Peyton at QB, Ball/Anderson behind him, Thomas at TE, Thomas, Caldwell/Montcrief, and Welker at WR. DT rotation - Knighton/Vickerson/Williams/Donald DE's - Ayers (or) Allen,Jackson, Wolf and Quanteres Smith LB's Strong - Miller/Irving, Middle - Borland/Johnson, Weak - Trevathan CB's Finally a strength! DRC, Harris, and Shields (Bolden and Webster in reserve) Safties - Moore/Champ, and Bucannon with Bruton and Duke backing them up. In my opinion , this gives a a good shot at getting back to the Super Bowl, within budget, without mortgaging our (after Peyton)future. Oline is better, Peyton lifts all receivers, we'll miss Knowshon but Ball and CJ step it up. Julius and Green get the job done themselves and Gerell Robinson gets some time at TE and WR. D line just gets stronger and deeper, hopefully we finally have a "complete " LB'ing corp and Secondary fianlly gets the parts it needs to be competitive and not have to make the O score 30+ a game. Let me know what you Think!
