Hawk fan here,
Just writing a quick note to MHR to offer condolences and to say, with a genuine spirit, congratulations on a great season.
Pretty clear that Denver didn't play well yesterday. It was also clear that Seattle had an excellent game plan (clear out the Mike and trap crossing routes 5-8 yards downfield and tackle well.) We got all the breaks as well.
Like a lot of fans here in Seattle, we were waiting on the surge by Denver, so much so in my case that I couldn't crack a beer until the 4th quarter. Nobody expected what happened last night, it is still hard to believe today.
Seattle fans are known as being boorish, arrogant, loud jerks, and I've been to 90 games so I can say that some of them definitely are. But the vast majority are not, and that vast majority was sweating bullets for 2 weeks + 3 quarters. Of course we are elated for the win. The thousands of fans that filled the streets of Seattle last night were letting off pressure that had been building since 1979. It will be known as the greatest sports moment in Seattle history. That the win came against a great Denver team with the best offense in the history of the league makes it even better.
Real Seahawk fans respect the Denver Broncos. We know Denver is better than what happened yesterday, and there is a very good chance that we'll see the same super bowl next year. I think we get you guys up here next season, and we will be as anxious about that matchup as we were about yesterday. We look forward to the matchup.
So congratulations on dominating the AFC, and good luck next season (not that you'll need it.)
