Coach Fox is a likable guy. I sure the players are fond of uncle Foxy. And that is an important part in a team. To make everyone comfortable. But maybe they have gotten too comfortable. That firing leadership is missing. The only sign Fox is worked up is the red color on his cheeks. Even JDR seemed more alert during his short stint as HC. And look at Pete Carroll. He energizes his players the whole game.
Sometimes it feels as if Fox is not is not quite there. That his decision making is not fast enough. He hesitates. He is not quite focused. Just watch his press conferences. He is jumpy in a strange way. But of course it's hard to fire someone who has taken his team to the playoffs three years in a row. Keep him but get rid of the obvious failures. JDR has to go! The defense has failed utterly. Doesn't matter that players has been injured. All teams get players injured. We need a new DC. And we need to get a new STC. Why? Because we haven't had one this year.
The mental beating the players and coaches got Sunday night has to be addressed. Much worse than the Baltimore game. Much much worse. To be so thoroughly knocked down and out classed will leave scars that might be hard to overcome. You always have it there in the back of your mind. Am I exaggerating? Maybe a little, but I have never seen a team in any professional sport playing a final and getting so, yes Peyton, embarrassed. It can happen to all teams. But now it happened to ours. And we have to be allowed to talk about it. It affects us fan too.
To get over something like that requires changes. Personnel, players and some coaches. Fresh blood need to be injected to the team. Keep the brilliance, the smart offense, the impressive run defense and add more fire and energy and physicality. To get the injured players back will help. They were not on the field and therefore not really " part of" it. And now it's time for the offseason, the speculations...and I love it. And are already looking forward to next year. And don't forget, to be no. 2 in the world isn't that bad!:) Go Broncos!
