Report: Broncos Defensive Coordinator Jack Del Rio Agrees to a New Two-Year Deal

Ron Chenoy-USA TODAY Sports

According to The Denver Posts Mike Klis, the Denver Broncos have signed Defensive Coordinator Jack Del Rio to a new two year deal. The deal is expected to be finalized on Friday.

Jack did a nice job with our defense," said John Elway, the Broncos' executive vice president of football operations. "We had a lot of injuries on that defensive side and Jack did a good job holding that side together. Even in the Super Bowl, our defense kept us in the game in the first half.

The Broncos defense lead by Del Rio was ranked 19th overall in the NFL in 2013. The defense did see it's share of major injuries. Starters Von Miller, Champ Bailey, Rahim Moore, Derek Wolfe, and Kevin Vickerson all missed significant time in 2013. The Broncos D mostly without starter Chris Harris did step up to the task in the postseason. In 2012 Del Rio lead the Broncos to have the 2nd ranked defense.

It's good to see the Broncos having some continuity at the defensive coordinator position. Hopefully with Del Rio and a number of injured players returning to the defensive side of the ball that this defense can be a top five defense in 2014.
