The Broncos NEEDS in DEFENSE Are HUGE!! - Defensive End - Part 1

Almost 30% of the Broncos roster in 2013 will be Free Agents. The free agent players are:

Decker, wide receiver

Andre Caldwell, wide receiver;

Moreno, running back

Beadles, offensive guard

Chris Kuper, offensive guard;

Steve Vallos, center-guard

Winston Justice, offensive tackle.

Shaun Phillips, defensive end

Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie, cornerback

Wesley Woodyard, linebacker;

Mike Adams, safety;

Robert Ayers, defensive end;

Paris Lenon, linebacker

Quentin Jammer, cornerback

Jeremy Mincey, defensive end

Michael Huff, safety

What does this tell us?

To many players are free agents

We MUST resign 5 of these players if we are serious about returning to the playoffs this season. The Broncos will be seriously challenged by the Chiefs and Charges!

We NEED to resign:

Shaun Phillips, Defensive End

Robert Ayers, Defensive End;Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie, Cornerback

Wesley Woodyard, Linebacker

Mike Adams, Safety

This is EXTREMELY SAD Because Robert Ayers and Mike Adams are just average players and Wesley Woodyard is a little above average. Woodyard came apart the last four games of the season. As bad as it is we cannot train an entirely new defense.

The MUST resign:

Shaun Phillips, Defensive End

Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie, Cornerback

Wesley Woodyard, Linebacker;

I will discuss this in four parts.

I think we will learn during training camp that Derek Wolf is history.

We will learn that Von Miller will not be able to return from his ACL injury until after we are several games into the season.

I am also concerned about Quanterus Smith's recovery.

Malki Jackson and Terrance Knighton are fairing these days. They both came on nicely towards the end of the season. Will they be ready for spring training? I doubt it! I don't know.

I don't expect to see much out of Hall Davis or John Youboty.

This means we really MUST sign Shaun Phillips and hope Sylvester Williams up's his game this year. We will need excellent play out of Malki Jackson and Terrance Knighton before Von Miller returns. Depending on what happens I see Defense End as being a serious weakness in 2014.
