Talib, Ward, Ware and Decker

Wow, Busy couple of days, thoughts and reflections on two days of free agency:

1. TJ Ward: Great signing, good price, hope he can cover. Hes a big hitter and hes tough which is great.

We need Rahim Moore to heal up and complete the Safety tandem. This makes David Bruton and Duke Ihenacho back ups which suits them better.

2. Aqib Talib: Gutsy Gamble, high risk high reward. Overpaid for a top level yet injury prone DB that has never played a complete season. Six years and 26 million guaranteed for a guy with a troubled history. Could work, could be a disaster. If DRC really rejected 9 million then it makes sense. Weakens the Patriots and made them commit 12 million to Darrel Revis for one year.

3. DeMarcus Ware: Great signing, 12 teams wanted him, including 6 playoff teams. Hope he stays healthy and produces like he has for the majority of his career. He should be a force to be reckoned with along with Von Miller.30 million proves our commitment to improving our defense. Hopefully he stays injury free and the gamble pays off.

4. Eric Decker signs for 36 million for five years with the Jets. Decker was a great #2 receiver that we will miss. Lots of fans seem hostile to him which is bizarre. All he did was produce 33 TD's in the last three years. A 26 year old 6 foot 3 receiver that produces 222 catches for 3070 yards deserves 36 million for five years. I wish we would have paid it to him, but we have chosen to put our money into our defense. Elway and company seem to believe that we can put Andre Caldwell or a rookie in the 2 spot and he will produce like Decker. That is sadly delusional. Our offense is complicated (unless you are a Seattle DB) and it takes time for rookies to adjust. Many rookie receivers flop, ask the Detroit Lions. Hopefully whoever we draft is a quick learner and produces otherwise we will miss Decker more that many fans would like to admit.

For Denver its good that Decker went to the QB challenged Jets, if he went to the Colts or Patriots he would have made both those teams a lot more dangerous and a much bigger threat to us than they already are.

To Elway I say I admire your aggressive, balls out approach to this upcoming season.

To Ware and Talib I say welcome and may you stay healthy and productive throughout the next season

To TJ Ward I say for fans of Steve Atwater, Dennis Smith and John Lynch WELCOME, you will fit in great

To Decker I say thanks for three great seasons, you will be missed and I wish you great success in the rest of your career.
