Back in week 16 of the 2013 NFL Season Broncos Linebacker Von Miller suffered a major ACL Injury, and required surgery to repair it. Well this afternoon CBS4's Vic Lombardi tweeted out that the Denver Broncos Pro-Bowl pass rusher is "way ahead" of schedule from his ACL surgery, and is apparently 15 pounds lighter.
Von Miller way ahead of schedule with his ACL recovery. Fifteen pounds lighter too.— Vic Lombardi (@VicLombardi) March 25, 2014
This is great news for the Broncos who spent the majority of the 2013 season without Miller. Also hearing he is down 15 pounds is also good to hear as well. Miller looked a little heavy last season, and it seemed to effect his explosion a bit.
Obviously Von and Chris Harris are the two probably bigger concerns because they’re coming off those ACLs. But they’re both moving along very well and working very hard. Any time you come off an ACL it’s always a little bit tough, but we don’t anticipate any problems."
The Broncos have to encouraged by Miller's recovery, but at the same time they have to make sure that he does not try to return too quickly. ACL injuries have historically been tough to return from, but we've seen numerous NFL players, most notably Adrian Peterson in 2012 and Darrelle Revis in 2013, make very successful returns from complete ACL tears.
I would be surprised if Von is ready to go for the start of training camp, but it appears that he may be ready for week one of the NFL season.
