Things I have learned from the past is that Elway like to choose experienced, durable, and versatile players in the first three rounds. He like for his players to have experience, that way he knows what he is going to get. This philosophy also decreases the chance of choosing a "one year wonder". Elway takes a lot of heat for his past drafts. However, I feel he has done a very good job, it's not fair to compare Mcdaniels' drafts with Elways because Mcdaniels' prospects didn't start contributing till later in their careers for the most part.
Von Miller is an obvious hit. Then Orlando Franklin has been a durable, solid, starter since day one. Rahim Moore has really grown as a player and played very well as of late. Nate Irving has played well when given the chance, hope he competes and starts at MLB cause I really like the guy. Julius Thomas was obviously a slam dunk (pun intended) and Virgil Green has contributed a lot for a 7th round pick. Derek Wolfe will have a bounce back year after a solid rookie season. He had a hard year in many ways last year. Brock was a terrible pick I will admit. I don't think he ever even plays here and think he stinks either way. I like Dysert more (Elways pick as well). It's easy to call Hillman a bust (even though he was a 3rd round pick) but he's only 22 and deserves one more year to show something. Trevathan and Malik Jackson have been incredible. Especially considering when we got them. Also, Elway has done a greta job with late round picks and UDCFA's. Anyways, on to my pick for the 31st overall selection.
Joel Bitonio T/G/C Nevada.
This guy has Elway written all over him. He has been a durable, nasty, experienced starter in Nevada. He plays with an attitude and can play anywhere on the o-line without a problem. Elway loves versatility. He would be a great LG and a potential replacement at RT should we lose Franklin next year. If you haven't looked this guy up, please do. He is such a nasty, physical player. He looks to take off the defenders head on every single play. Elway wants toughness, and it doesn't get much more tough than Bitonio. Let me know what you all think.
