Peyton Manning, DeMarcus Ware, and the rest of the 2014 Broncos meet at Dove Valley for the first time. Check out info, quotes, video, photos and more.

Broncos offseason workouts begin

As Mike featured in today's Horse Tracks, the Broncos' 2014 voluntary offseason workouts have begun. Duke Ihenacho told us last week that the word "voluntary" is hardly accurate - it's mandatory for most Broncos players, including him. Peyton Manning is there. DeMarcus Ware is there. This is the beginning of the Broncos' road to Super Bowl XLIX in Glendale.

Phase One workouts will continue for the next two weeks as the Broncos move toward OTA's in May. View the Broncos' full offseason workouts schedule.

What's Phase One?

  • Phase One activities shall be limited to strength and conditioning and physical rehabilitation only.
  • During Phase One, only full-time or part-time strength and conditioning coaches, who have no other coaching responsibilities with the Club, shall be allowed on the field; no other coaches shall be allowed on the field or to otherwise participate in or observe activities.
  • No footballs shall be permitted to be used (only "dead ball" activities), except that quarterbacks may elect to throw to receivers provided they are not covered by any other player.
  • Players cannot wear helmets during Phase One.

Ryan Clady, Derek Wolfe return

"Oh man, for me it's not voluntary. It's mandatory man (laughing). 'Voluntary' is not a word for me." -Duke Ihenacho, MileHighReport.com

Offensive tackle Ryan Clady, who missed most of 2013 altogether, was at workouts, stretching with the team (photo). He missed offseason workouts last year with a shoulder injury before being placed on Injured Reserve after two games with a Lisfranc foot sprain.

Defensive end Derek Wolfe, who finally shed some light on his mysterious season-ending condition in late February, was also seen at the workout. ESPN Denver's Cecil Lammey reports Wolfe looked to be in good shape.

Photos, Videos and More

The team's official site has photos and video of Peyton Manning stretching and using a weight machine. It is fascinating stuff. Thankfully, they split out the photo galleries of the players jumping in place to the offensive and defensive players separately, so we're not bombarded with too much Montee Ball and Von Miller in the same gallery. That would just be silly.

Broncos players will have media availability at 12:00 p.m. MDT, including Manning and Ware.
