2014 NFL mock draft: QB Teddy Bridgewater to Minnesota Vikings with 8th pick

With the 8th pick in the 2014 Mile High Report Community Mock Draft, Minnesota Vikings GM WYOrangeCrush selects...

The Minnesota Vikings actually have a pretty decent roster, but they do have some holes to fill. With the loss of Jared Allen, and Chad Greenway getting long in the tooth, linebacker is a definite need. They also need some help for the interior line, defensive tackle, and strong safety.

Ultimately their offense has a decent crop of wide receivers, a young talented tight end, a beastly left tackle, and a future Hall of Fame running back. That leaves them with Matt Cassel or Christian Ponder as their starting Quarterback. Clearly a QB upgrade would go a long way.

With the #8 overall pick in the MHR Community Mock Draft, the Minnesota Vikings select...

Teddy Bridgewater, QB, Louisville

Bridgewater has had three solid seasons playing in a pro-style offense, and his production and accuracy have gotten better each year. With Norv Tuner in town as the OC he could coach up Bridgewater and finally bring a balanced offensive game to Minnesota.

Bridgewater is a film room junkie and reads the field well. He also has a high ceiling and has several areas where he could improve his game further with coaching. He is a very accurate passer and plays well when facing a blitz; he also throws the ball well on the move. He has decent mobility to escape converging pass rushers, but he would not be confused as the second coming of Fran Tarkenton. This pick would allow for Adrian Peterson to not have to face overloaded formations all season long, and AP's success with the run game would open up more routes in the pass game for Bridgewater and vice versa.
