I think there is really only one guy that has the potential to come in and be a 3 down MLB for the Broncos if he is healthy, CJ Mosley. The only problem is that he will probably be gone by the time we pick. The Broncos are definitely in win now mode and will most likely get pretty far this year and get a pretty low first round pick next year. I think the Broncos should approach a team picking in the mid to late teens about trading up. The Jets are a decent target as they have needs in a lot of areas, trade our 2014 and 2015 1st round pick for the Jets 1st and 2nd of 2014 (the value is pretty close).
I like Brock Osweiler but he is being wasted on this roster even if Peyton only goes 2 more years, even worse if he somehow goes 3 more. The Broncos have been scouting QBs and there has been some rumors of teams asking for Brock. The Broncos trade Brock Osweiler to Minnesota for their 2nd and 6th round picks.
My Mock Draft after trades:
1 (18) – CJ Mosley (ILB), should be able to start right away.
2 (40) – Xavier Su’a-Filo (OG), Good depth and provides flexibility to move Franklin back if desired.
2 (49) – Keith McGill (CB), Tall CB with some speed, provides depth.
2 (63) – Donte Moncrief (WR), should be a good value pick here and gives needed depth.
3 (95) – Phillip Gaines (CB), Good depth at CB essential, especially considering last year’s problems.
4 (131) – Ed Reynolds (S), good instincts at safety, depth/ST
5 (171) – Tyler Larsen (C), could provide good depth.
6 (184) – Brett Smith (QB), would compete with Dysert for Manning’s backup.
6 (207) – Brock Coyle (ILB), provide depth and ST help.
7 (246) – George Atkinson III (RB), could provide depth at RB/KR/PR/ST.
Would also trade up to get Gilbert (CB) or Pryor (S) if Mosley is not there. Would change later picks with Jones (LB) in the 2nd or 3rd instead of 2 CBs.
