I should have named this the "Lucky nearly every round " mock. I used Walter Football rankings. While most of our picks slide to us they are ALL within the rounds projected.
You can never predict what turns the draft will take making this a feasible, while quite unlikely scenario
1st Ryan Shazier LB Ohio /Projected round:1-2
2nd Jason Verrett, CB, TCU /Projected round:1-3
3rd Weston Richburg, C, Colorado State /Projected round:2-3
4th Jaylen Watkins, CB, Florida /Projected round:3-4
5th Christian Kirksey, OLB, Iowa /Projected round:4-6
6th Spencer Long, G, Nebraska /Projected round:4-6
7th Jeff Janis WR Saginaw Valley State /Projected round:6-FA
The first three picks are well enough known, so I'll skip explaining them, Janis as well. If you don't know who those guys are you must be very new around here.
Watkins "Is a sleeper who has a good athletic skill set, and could be a mid-round steal". It would sure be nice to not EVER have to rely on Tony Carter.
Kirksey Is fast, and physical and did well in the pass coverage and blitzing one-on-ones. I picked Kirksey to add depth behind Trevathan and Shazier as a cover LB. To my knowledge #59 is our only coverage LB currently on the roster.
Long played well this season before suffering an ACL injury. Walter football said he could be a steal, and he was a potential top-100 selection before the injury. I believe he would be a candidate for IR, giving us future quality depth along the interior of our O-line. Ala Quanterus Smith last year.
This is my first real mock on MHR. Hope you like it as much as I do!
