From the moment he arrived, Emmanuel Sanders was going to become the true deep threat for Peyton Manning and the Denver Broncos. So far he has impressed the entire team and now with his words continues that positive first impression with the media and fans. Here is what he had to say.
On teammates praise
It makes me feel good. But at the end of the day I still have a lot of work that I have to put in. It’s early. It’s OTA’s right now. I’d be lying to you if I told you that I know the playbook. My head is still spinning a little bit, but I’ll tell you what, I’m happy and excited to be a Denver Bronco.
On building chemistry
...if this game was easy, anybody could do it. The good thing about chemistry is that Peyton understands that I understand that. So after every single OTA practice, you’ll see me and Peyton out there trying to work on chemistry, work on plays and things of that sort.
On Demaryius Thomas
It’s been fun. Me and Demaryius complement each other. DT is a big receiver. He’s a big, physical receiver and I’m a more a smaller, quick, faster receiver that can stretch the field. ... I think Peyton likes that a lot better also.
On spreading the ball around
Anytime you get the opportunity to play with Peyton Manning you’re going to be able to capitalize on that. The numbers were right, the numbers were perfect for me, good enough for me. I’m a guy that doesn’t want too much ... now to come into a passing system with one of the greatest, if not the greatest, quarterbacks to ever play that position, is definitely a blessing.
On the playbook
I’ll tell you what, the playbook is definitely a lot harder than any playbook I’ve ever been a part of because they do a great job of moving guys around. That’s what I want to be a part of. I’m excited. Today I was running around telling the guys, "Look, we’re fortunate. This is a blessing to be in the National Football League". ... I’m just out here enjoying it and loving the environment I’m in and I’m also in the passing attack and that’s something I want to be in when I entered the National Football League.
I’m going to take my time. I still have a long way to go with this playbook but when it comes, I feel like I’ll be ready.
On Montee Ball
I think Montee works extremely hard. In the weight room he’s working hard, he’s one of those guys that doesn’t really say too much but you always see him working hard out on the field. He’s been running the ball really well. I think it’s kind of hard to distinguish what kind of a back he is because I’ve never played with him before until the pads come on. But I think he’s a hard worker and I think he’ll have a productive year for us.
