Ward at nickel linebacker?

Scenario to consider: Top two linebackers are gone by the time we’re on the clock Thursday. We’re stuck with the options that are currently on the roster to fill that spot.

Now this Elway quote made me think.

"I don't know that is necessarily a need, we feel pretty good about Nate, especially on first and second down," Elway said. " ... We're more concerned ... on third down. T.J. Ward is an option there, he does a tremendous job in the box."

Could we roll with Miller, Irving, Trevathan on base downs, and pair Trevathan with Ward in the nickel? This gives us two very good coverage players as nickel linebackers, and hopefully an improved Ihenacho at strong safety. Danny and Ward covering, ‘Nacho wrecking whoever might be unlucky enough to get the ball close to the line and Moore securing the deep (kinda simplified, but whatever). All this with Harris JR, Talib and Webster/Carter/Draftee out wide. I could live with this.

So, if we do not land one of the potential three-down linebackers Thursday, and coverage-backer options in later rounds don’t work out, what do you guys think about this solution?
