2014 NFL Draft: 48 Hours Until Mayhem - Horse Tracks

Ron Chenoy-US PRESSWIRE

John Elway met with the media yesterday covering a wide range of questions, but with the NFL Draft just forty-eight hours away, most of the questions had to do with his plans for the Denver Broncos.

Kentucky Derby Bronco

My home state favorite, California Chrome, took home the first Kentucky Derby win for a California-bred "Bronco" since 1962. Maybe she can become the first Triple Crown winner since the year I was born in 1978.

It made the victory all the more sweet when this tweet surfaced of Wes Welker tossing hundred dollar bills out to anyone he walked past. I'm guessing he put big money on the second place underdog, Commanding Curve. Well played, Mr. Welker. Well played.

John Elway Talks 2014 NFL Draft

John Elway met with the media yesterday covering a wide range of questions, but with the NFL Draft just forty-eight hours away, most of the questions had to do with his plans for the Denver Broncos. Naturally, he gave very little details other than vague generalities like he may look to trade up, or he may look to trade down, or he may just take the best player available. Because, at #31, the possibilities are endless.

More importantly, Elway will be looking for value in later rounds. It's never easy, but the more quality NFL talent he can pick up in later rounds the better. Fortunately, Vegas already thinks Elway has improved the Broncos by at least 31.5 points, since the Seattle Seahawks are only favored by 3.5 points over the Broncos in Week 3 of the 2014 Regular Season. #winning

Mock It Up

You are running out of time to run your mock draft simulations. Come on, give it to us. What unbelievably player fell to you this time around?

Even though 73% of you voted for having mock draft fatigue in my poll last week, I found that 90% of our website traffic goes to mock draft related posts, so I think my polling is inaccurate.

Horse Tracks

  • According to Jeff Legwold, the Marvin Austin signing yesterday will not alter the Broncos plans for this week's draft at all.
  • I was going to share a story from the Denver Post, but they wouldn't allow me to view the page without buying a subscription, which as an out of state fan I would never do. I think everyone knows the Broncos could target a cornerback. If only everyone knew they could remove those kinds of annoying popups with a few clicks in your browser. ;)
  • Peter King is always an interesting read on Draft Week.  I suggest taking the time even if you normally don't care for his meanderings!
  • According to the Wall Street Journal, the Broncos need running backs and a defense. Okie Dokie!
