2014 NFL Mock Draft: LB C.J. Mosley to the San Francisco 49ers with the 30th pick

With the 30th pick in the 2014 Mile High Report Community Mock Draft, San Francisco 49ers GM frankencrank selects..

The Broncos' dream player is falling, falling, falling... a stud inside linebacker who would finish the 2014 defensive transformation. There he sits at #30, only one more team to pass, and the Broncos will get someone who is very likely very high on their board (he's ranked 9th by SB Nation).

Too bad the 49ers GM is too clever to let value like that pass him by.

With the 30th overall selection in the 2014 Mile High Report Community NFL Mock Draft, the San Francisco 49ers select...

C.J. Mosley, LB, Alabama

Writes GM frankencrank, "I watch zero tape, so I have to trust the judgment of others regarding capabilities to think more strategically. While the 49ers' positions of need seem to be CB and WR (I think), BPA is BPA. Plus, in view of the uncertainties of the Aldon Smith situation, linebacker is a position of potential need, and so I think Mosley is the guy. If Smith gets his act together one or the other could always be used as trade bait. But, the 49ers pride themselves on defense so I don't see them risking having a hole here.

"It is possible that the 49ers feel Tank Carradine has recovered from his ACL to the point of being able to fill this need, but this is a big question mark for me so I will go for what looks like the "sure" thing. If the Patriots had chosen Mosley (or the 49ers feel Carradine is up to filling Aldon Smith's shoes) then I would go for CB Kyle Fuller, a stronger need and one of the better players on the board."

I'm not sure a move to linebacker is being considered for Carradine, but I'm not the 49ers GM. Still, I expect if Mosley is sitting at 30, the Broncos might consider trading up a few spots to 28 to get their guy.
