I'll start this article with a little history about me. I was born and raised in Indiana and had already graduated high school by the time the Colts moved to Indy. Peyton Manning was just a wee lad at that time and although Indiana was a basketball state, when Joe Montana and the 49ers came to Indy, I was excited to go see Joe play. I'm no longer living in Indiana and the last football game I went to see was in Atlanta when, once again, I went to see Joe Montana and the 49ers in the late 1980's.
I still have a lot of family living in Indiana and one brother in particular has remained a loyal Colts fan, even after the release of Peyton. I, myself, have switched allegiances and remain a loyal Peyton fan and now a Broncos fan, as well. Although I still have my Peyton-Colts jersey, I no longer wear it and now wear my Peyton-Broncos jersey. My brother and I have multiple conversations throughout the year regarding "OUR" teams. We never argue or belittle each other. We each state our opinions, likes, dislikes and we both have a passion for our teams. We both want to see our teams play well and win.
So now, it is only fitting that my brother and I are going together to the Denver Broncos opening game against the Colts. He will be rooting for Andrew Luck and the Colts and I will be rooting for Peyton and the Broncos. We will be sitting side by side; he in his Colts jersey and me in my Broncos jersey. I am looking forward to being at my 1st Broncos game and my 1st game in more then 25 years. I'm also looking forward to seeing another of the greatest quarterbacks ever to play the game of football. (hint: I'm talking about Peyton)
Also, this will be the very first time my brother and I have been able to go to a football game together. My brother is the same age as Peyton, so back in the 80's when I was going to my 1st games, my brother was still just a wee lad. (just like Peyton) By the time my brother started going to his first games in Indy, I had already moved to another state. Getting the opportunity to go to a game together and spend time together brings a feeling beyond words.
I'm excited and really hope the experience is enjoyable for both of us. I'm hoping the other fans around won't be offended by my brother's Colts jersey. Regardless of the outcome of the game, we will have a great time and after the game we are heading to Reno to meet our mom for a few days. (Reno is driving distance for our mom) And while in Reno one of us will have bragging rights and enjoy a little good natured ribbing over the other. (Go Broncos-I'm counting on you guys lol)
So if any of you other Broncos fans see an older gal in a Broncos shirt hanging out with a 38 yr old bald guy in a Colts jersey, feel free to say hello and let me know you read my post on MHR.
