The first round of the 2014 NFL Draft was a wild ride for the Denver Broncos as many of the fan favorites dropped of the board in quick succession during the middle part of the round. Fortunately, the one guy I was personally really high on fell right into John Elway's arms as he wasted little time drafting Bradley Roby out of Ohio State.
The big call tonight is to add some beef in the middle with offensive guard being a position of need, but there is a small contingent of fans hoping to see Chris Borland at the tail end of the second round. With all of the anxiety I felt yesterday when I thought the draft was going disastrously wrong for the Broncos at #31 being replaced with elation, I could care less who Elway selects tonight. We got ourselves a guy that can help this team win now in the first round, so no matter what the 2014 NFL Draft is a success for me!
NOTE: Keep refreshing this page after each pick as I will be updating this thread live with reactions from our own MHR Staffers. Go Broncos!

PICK | TEAM | PLAYER | SCHOOL | MHR REACTION |
| Xavier Su'a-Filo | Notre Dame | The Texans are going through some offensive scheme changes and adding a great guard is a smart move. ~Topher The Texans get them a big nasty guard to help their run game. Houston is upgrading their trenches, smart plan! ~Scotty |
| Demarcus Lawrence | Boise State | The Cowboys make another solid selection, upgrading their DL which really needed some youth. ~Topher The Dallas Cowboys moved up to take pass rusher Demarcus Lawrence. Good pick for them. Lawrence will help replace DeMarcus Ware. ~Scotty |
| Joel Bitonio | Nevada | The Browns likely just lost one of their only offensive weapons and have a QB that plays largely independent of his OL and they use their 2nd round pick on their OL? Hm... ~Topher The Browns needed a RT, so they got themselves a good one to help protect Johnny Manziel. ~Scotty |
| Derek Carr | Fresno State | The Raiders have a vet to let Carr develop in Schaub, now if they can focus on their other needs for this draft and next year, Allen will have a team to work with. ~Topher The Raiders are having a solid first 2 rounds of the draft(what?). Carr can sit behind Matt Schaub(LOLOL) until he stinks it up or loses his other ear. I like the pick. ~Scotty |
|
Ra'Shede Hageman | Minnesota | The Falcons continue to wisely re-haul their horrible line. They don't have any pressing needs on offense now besides maybe a TE or RB. ~Topher Hageman will either be a stud, or a big bust. There's talent there, but will Hageman play up to it? Good luck Atlanta. ~Scotty |
| Austin Seferian-Jenkins | Washington | I'm surprised Lovie let the Bucs draft offense for two rounds in a row but they are making that offense look better and better, trusting his coaching to help the defense. ~Topher Interesting pick. ASJ should have gone earlier, but there's some red flags around him. Interested to see how he pans out in Tampa. ~Scotty |
| Marqise Lee | USC | The Jags have serious needs but have upgraded their QB and OL situation, I felt they might struggle but Lee is a very good WR. ~Topher The Jags get Blake Bortles a weapon in Marquise Lee. Justin Blackmon might not play at all in 2014, so they get Lee to pair with Cecil Shorts. Solid pick for the Jags. ~Scotty |
| Kyle Van Noy | BYU | The Lions may be putting too many eggs in two baskets, drafting to their strengths rather than addressing their weaknesses. ~Topher The Lions were reportedly enamored with Linebacker Kyle Van Noy so they move up a few spots to acquire his services. The Seahawks keep acquiring more draft picks. ~Scotty |
| Lemarcus Joyner | Florida State | The Rams have possibly the best front seven in the entire NFL and now looking to improve their secondary to capitalize on their great pass rush. ~Topher The Rams get themselves a solid CB/S prospect in Lamarcus Joyner. He's a little guy at 5'8, but a very good football player. ~Scotty |
| Jordan Matthews | Vanderbilt | The Eagles make a pick at WR to try and replace DeSean Jackson despite already have two solid WR's. Odd but Mathews is a decent WR. ~Topher The Eagles get them a very good receiver for their offense. A big WR who will fit in well in their offense. ~Scotty |
| Weston Richburg | Colorado State | The Giants added a good WR in the 1st and now upgrade their OL which got Eli abused in 2013, classic good draft from the Giants. ~Topher The Giants get some more offensive line help in Weston Richburg. He's a very good center who will start right away. ~Scotty |
| Cyrus Kouandijo | Alabama | The Bills needed OL help and get a quality RT who can start blocking for their great backs right away. ~Topher Cyrus Kouandjio will start right away at Right Tackle. He's a very good run blocker and will open up holes for C.J Spiller and Fred Jackson. ~Scotty |
| Paul Richardson | Colorado | The Seahawks need WR help and Richardson could be that guy since they like to move their players around. ~Topher Not a fan of the Paul Richardson pick. He has speed, but is small and light. Jam him at the line and he's done. ~Scotty |
| Stephon Tuitt | Notre Dame | Truitt is a good value here and fills a big need they have, great 2nd round pick. ~Topher The Steelers always get good D-Line prospects. Tuitt is a versatile guy who will be a good fit in Pittsburgh. ~Scotty |
| Trent Murphy | Stanford | Murphy is a talent edge guy but the Redskins already have two. Similar pick to the Chiefs in round 1, not huge need but long term talent. ~Topher Curious pick here. The Skins have two very good pass rushers already in Kerrigan and Orakpo. Good fit, but don't see the need. ~Scotty |
| Timmy Jernigan | Florida State | Jernigan is talented, no question, lucky for him the Ravens have a strong locker room and coaches to motivate him. ~Topher Timmy Jernigan is a good pick here. Some viewed him as a top 15 pick, but he's a solid run defender and interior pass rusher. ~Scotty |
| Jace Amaro | Texas Tech | The Jets upgraded the last weak link on their offense (besides QB) with a solid TE. ~Topher The Jets get another solid weapon here in Jace Amaro. I really like what they have done this offseason. ~Scotty |
| Jeremiah Attaochu | Georgia Tech | Attaochu adds more youth to a developing defense group, talented and smart, hard to not like this move if you are a Chargers fan. ~Topher I really like this pick. The chargers add a solid pass rusher. Clearly they're drafting trying to stop Manning. ~Scotty |
| Ego Ferguson | LSU | Chicago continues to try and make up for the coaching talent lost in the big change up and Ego is talented. ~Topher Interesting pick. Ego is a solid football player. Chicago can use all the defensive players they can get. ~Scotty |
| Troy Niklas | Notre Dame | The Cardinals have the worst offense in their division and adding a physical tight end doesn't hurt but is it enough close the gap much? ~Topher The Cards get a solid weapon for their offense. A 6'6 270lb TE who is very athletic. Too bad they have Carson Palmer at QB. ~Scotty |
| Davante Adams | Fresno | Adams is a talented WR and he's very smart but when your QB is Rodgers why are you using a 2nd on a WR? Solid but not what I'd have done, but Thompson is smarter than me. ~Topher Ted Thompson is awesome. Davante Adams will be a very solid weapon for Aaron Rodgers. ~Scotty |
| Bishop Sankey | Washington | The Titans lost CJNot2K and pick the 1st RB of the draft and he's got the potentially to fit well with their new offense. ~Topher About time for a running back! Sankey is a very good running back and will replace CJ2K in Tennessee. ~Scotty |
| Jeremy Hill | LSU | Hill adds more talent to the Bengals backfield, that team needs to win a playoff game this year, no excuses (again). ~Topher Jeremy Hill has a ton of red flags, so of course he ends up in Cincinnati. ~Scotty |
| Cody Latimer | Indiana | Don't like it, what is Latimer? The #4 WR? You expect more from a 2nd round pick, unless they don't expect any WR's back long term. ~Topher CODY LATIMER IS GOING TO BE AMAZING!!!!!!! ~Scotty |
| Carlos Hyde | Ohio State | 49ers gain a pick to move back 1 and get who they want anyways, smart fit for Hyde but they are already so deep at RB, #Playoffteamproblems ~Topher
| Stanley Jean-Baptiste | Nebraska | Saints begin to address some of their problems and pick a quality player, a but early though, but a big need. ~Topher
| Jack Mewhort | Oklahoma State | The Colts need about 10 offensive lineman so this is a good place to start after wasting their 1st round pick trading for Trent Richardson. ~Topher
| Kony Ealy | Missouri | The Panthers still need offensive help but Ealy is a steal here and helps their already strong defense. ~Topher
| Allen Robinson | Penn State | The Jags are doing all they can do to make sure Bortles doesn't struggles like Gabbert did. Gabbert must be thinking "why didn't they get me any help?" ~Topher
| Jimmy Garoppolo | Eastern Illinois | Whoa, what if Manning retires this year and Elway signs Tom Brady next year? (mind blown) ~Tim Seems like an odd fit for Belicheck and McD's offense but they need a QB to backup Brady with Mallet leaving soon. ~Topher The Patriots are trading Ryan Mallet, and now have Jimmy Garaoppolo to replace him. ~Scotty |
| Jarvis Landry | LSU | The Dolphins needed offensive help after upgrading at RB and OL, Landry fell nicely to the Dolphins, good pick for a physical WR. ~Topher
| Justin Britt | Missouri | This pick really surprises me unless they plan on moving him inside since their OL is actually pretty solid, but I don't try and understand Carroll's drafting mentality. ~Topher |
