Giants reeling after LB Beason injury

Offseason is a tough time of year.

While digging for anything concerning our beloved Broncos, I stumbled upon an interesting topic being discussed on a recent Football Focus podcast that peaked my interest. The crew was talking about the NY Giants losing Jon Beason for at least 3 months, if not the season w/ a broken foot and their staggering lack of depth behind him. For those of you unaware of their situation, the Giants signed Beason this offseason to a deal well above market value. The talk at that time was the crazy signing bonus they gave him and how all of MSM thought they overpaid for an aging LB w/ a history of injuries. Many of us here had him on our offseason radar w/ his ties to Fox in Carolina.

They went on to talk about the Giants history, or lack of, drafting/ signing free agent LBs and feeding their monies and draft choices into DL personnel instead. On their team website they designate 10 players, including Beason, as LBs. Of those players, 3 are rookies and the rest, aside from Herzlich, mostly are unheard of and unproven. The Giants were desperate enough for a LB this offseason that they gave Beason (w/out an agent) roughly $5million of guaranteed money for the 2014 season. How desperate are the Giants now?

The wheels started spinning and I thought this may be the perfect time of year to talk about our own LB talent and if this group is strong enough to entertain the possibility of a trade/swap to the Giants. Keeping a talented rookie or younger player (McCray/Nelson) and trading an older, more experienced player (Jamar Chaney/Stevie Johnson/N. Irving). Including Irving to that short list isn't really my favorite thought, but it is one name which would induce conversation.

Of all the Broncos positions, I feel that LB is the thinnest, but I am always willing to talk turkey w/ a team reeling from an injury during OTAs. We currently have 13(?) players listed as LBs on our roster, no way they all make the team and/or the practice squad and I am curious to hear everyone's thoughts here at MHR.
