Kracking the KRONK Kode: A Guide for Grading Offensive Line Play for the Lay-Person

In the comments section of my recent breakdown of the Broncos Offensive line performance in the preseason game against the Seahawks, longtime MHR member KRONK-00 requested a code be developed to cut through the sophisticated terms used by analysts. In response to KRONK-00's request, I have developed the KRONK Kode for Offensive Line Grading. Hopefully this code will allow our friends that don't know the difference between a molly block and a chop block the opportunity to dissect the analysis just like Mark Schlereth over at ESPN. MHR, I present to you, The KRONK Kode:

The KRONK Kode for Offensive Line Grading

Key

PB - Pass Blocking

RB - Run Blocking

HD - Hand Placement

LV - Leverage/Pad Height

FT - Footwork

PL/T - Pull and Trap Blocking

PNT - Penalties

Grades

(=) Average Performance

(+) Above Average Performance

(-) Below Average Performance

There are seven criteria to look at: run blocking, pass blocking, hand placement, leverage/pad height, footwork, pull/trap blocking and penalties assessed. Each player will be given one of three grades for each criterion: a (=) grade indicates an average performance, a (+) grade indicates an above average performance, and a - grade indicates a below average performance. If there are any suggestions on expanding the criteria, let me know in the comments!
