Good morning, Broncos Country!
Since Gary Kubiak announced his retirement, there’s been constant speculation on how long that may last.
Here’s another log for the Kubiak’s return to the NFL fire, courtesy of ESPN and Baltimore Ravens head coach John Harbaugh. Kubiak served as Harbaugh’s offensive coordinator for one season before he became head coach of the Denver Broncos. Kubiak, 55, retired from the Broncos after the 2016 season citing health reasons.
"My guess is we haven’t seen the last of Gary Kubiak in the National Football League. I’m looking forward to that. I texted with Gary shortly after (his retirement announcement), and I was really happy for him. I would say I was a little surprised because I think Gary Kubiak is one of the premier coaches in the National Football League. Having had a chance to work with him for a year, I got to see what a premier human being he is, too."
Harbaugh doesn’t indicate if Kubiak will return to the NFL as a coach, but it’s left open to interpretation. As the ESPN story notes, Kubiak has said he is open to do something with personnel and draft evaluation, but has ruled out coaching.
Only time will tell if Harbaugh’s prediction gets life, but as we speak it seems likely Kubiak will be back in the NFL in some form or fashion.
